Not sure if this is a repost as its a very old article I've just found, but some abandoned old jetliners make an eerily cool playground in Africa!

IIRC That photo was taken a few miles down the road from where i'm sitting right now smile
Wasn't it at Hatfield? If so it wasn't far from my uni campus from 2005.
There was a thread on it some time ago and we narrowed down almost to the precise impact point.
yes Close by Notcutts garden centre and the Shell garage in Smallford.
My Grandfather was a contemporary of the pilot, and still sees him at the odd reunion now and then.

It's not often you see a helicopter being used as a bomber....

Apparently used to create landing areas in dense forest in Vietnam

Below is the typical result of the BLU-82 15,000lb bomb it is carrying

"One of the key problems with the Yak-41M jet-lift system was the need to engage afterburner for vertical take-off or landing."

You really are so boring...

Should we have a pedant sub forum for Eric & yourself?

I thought that was quite a neat joke.

Plain, simple.

I wonder why? Ginetta has seldom been seen to stoop so low, so you should congratulate yourself on bringing out the worst in a person.
G and Eric have been a source of accurate info based on a lifetime obsession and active experience, which I can relate to and wish to see continue, you, on the other hand, have yet to offer anything. The topic, which I assume you have yet to grasp, is of a technical nature and will be full of pedantry, If taking the piss is all you can offer then feel free to go forth and multiply, if not crack on and amaze us.

It was the missing apostrophe that caused the problem. Obviously he meant 'plane.

I haven't posted a pedantic message in the "Boats PLANES and Trains" section for at least 48 hours.

I have to say that in recent months, G15, who is a mine of very good information, does have a tendency to react in a very "strong" manner to some posters. I've even had the full twin barrel treatment on occasions.

This. G15 clearly knows a lot of interesting stuff, but she doesn't suffer (what she thinks are) fools gladly.

Well, this is a car forum, and this area has more armchair fliers than real fliers, so she should probably stay away if she can't handle the world 'plane', which is in common usage.
