ETA :

Is that fully loaded Amel 54 still in the harbour ? ? We were on the same jetty and I have never been a fan of them before but that looked the dog danglies.
'Proper' boat.
Amels are awesome bits of kit. We had one in last year that had just done the Northwest Passage through the Arctic archipelago. Nutters. Sold'em a new outboard, their's was very, very shagged.

Jesus that must absolutely fly along! Ton of fun I'm sure, nothing quite like tiller steering at 20kts.

Humber Assault 5.3m with a 60Hp Mercury 4 stroke EFI

We've got it set up with just one seat so there is plenty of room to bring a casualty in. Handheld spots and blue lights fitted. I'm on duty tonight, finish work at 1800, home for 1830, on the boat for 1900 and on patrol around York till the early hours, then work again at 0900 tomorrow.

It's York races today so could be a busy evening.

Absolutely, I was on a bridge rebuild at 0830 this morning to provide safety boat cover, finished there at 1030 and over to the showroom to my proper job selling Porsches, then the rescue boat tonight!

I get bored if there's nothing to do.

God, that's just beautiful. I love a good classic and know how much work, grit, love and money goes into it.

Nice job.bow

I admire and respect anyone who takes on a wooden boat they frighten me to death.

It was a bit different in Essex today, no oilies required!

Major Flashback!

My very first memories of being on the water was in Essex with my Dad in a rowing boat around 1976, much like the one in the picture.

I loved that feeling of being in a small boat and watching the water go by, surging each time Dad rowed.

I rang him up just then and asked where it was (he is a carpenter/boatbuilder) and he reckons my first memory happened in Benfleet...

If I could, I would. But at 16 meters it's probably a little large for an inland rescue boat.

First time in the water last weekend in perhaps 10 or more years. We only had it for the last 2 to 3 years. Good news is it floats......
