I am just commenting here so I can link back at a later date. MSG ordered from Amazon, along with the cook book also mentioned here.
Me too - for those who can't be bothered to search here is the MSG:Monosodium Glutamate 500mg MSG
and here is the cook book:

Can't wait to give the KFC chicken a whirl - it looks great!
I just happened upon this thread and instantly thought "Amazing. I cannot wait to go around and purchase all these ingredients to make something that tastes a bit like KFC and is equally unhealthy".
I had even started to mentally wonder where I could buy a deep fat fryer (frier?) on my way home form work.
And tehn I realised that this is completely mental. Rather than go to all this effort to create something that tastes a little bit like my favourite guilty pleasure, it would be quicker, easier and cheaper to go to KFC.

kfc has a load of foul grease though inbetween the chicken and the coating - this is much better than kfc in this respect.
Thats only if you get it on teh bone, which is not what youve recreated. The fillet chicken doesnt have any of that. Besides, theres not really much point comparing two near identical deep fried foodstuffs for healthiness!blindswelledrat said:

Got to be a Zinger tower burger with two pieces of chicken on the side, not to fussed about the chips as they are crap
Exactly the same about the chips. Two zinger burgers and a load of hot wings and nothing else does me. The more chickens cant fly as a result of my trip to KFC, the better as far as I am concerned.

Dave (something-or-other) who invented KFC, he started Wendy Burgers after he left, developed a special cooking method for KFC. It involved steaming the chicken in the batter coating first and the frying is only done at the end for crispness. This keeps the moisture in.
I've only had KFC once or twice, wasn't that impressed to be honest.
