Indeed, page 139!

By the way, KFC mix is ready, pre-taste (dipped finger) is looking promising so far. Will report back later.

Just add chicken, chunky onions and peas.

But you can buy Chinese curry sauce ready made from Farm Foods (cheaper supermarket a la Lidl)

Results:

First batch - tasted great, a bit dry and not enough coating for my liking

Second batch - much more coating this time round, essentially coated and then dumped immediately into the fryer. The first batch left for about 10 mins on the side before frying

Chicken was a bit dry but guess that's down to not having a pressure fryer readily available!

Well worth giving the recipe a try.

Oh dear. frown

Please do not bother with the Chavsda version of 'KFC'.

Absolutely gopping.

As greasy (if not more so) than the real thing, but with none of the flavour. frown

For those of you suffering from a dry old bird eek, you need to brine the chicken first.

I use about half a cup of salt to about 3 pints of water and put the chicken in there for approx 2 hours.

Throw the salty water out and replace with fresh and give it another 30 minutes.

Moist chicken. Mmmmmmmmm lick

That looks bloody lovely.

I've tried all the so-called 'tricks': the brining, buttermilk, double-dipping in egg...

Nothing comes close to the real thing.

Now if KFC were to offer a premium version, using free-range corn fed chicken rather than the cheapest ste, that would be something I could see myself killing for.

I absolutely adore KFC. It would be my Death Row dinner.

With Krug. (Try it.)

That sounds finger luck in good. If I had an iPad and sat in front of re runs of TG it'd be a good way to go. Gives me an idea for a new thread :-)

Agree! I think folk would go there a lot more if they had that product.

I believe the reason they don't, is they say they simply can't buy enough free range chicken.

Very much a chicken and egg scenario.

It is but it's not the KFC version. I've tried that a few times and as you say, it's not the same so I've gone out on my own.

Brined chicken breasts cut into suitable chunks.

Dusted with Lemon Pepper.

Packet batter mix made up with buttermilk and add 2 tbsp of Accent for the obligatory MSG content.

Fry till yummy looking.

Like I said, not KFC but equally as good. Try it sometime MC, you won't be disappointed.

By any chance does the takeaway recipe book have the recipe for Dominos garlic and herb dip? I've tried every supermarket offering and none of them come close.

I've lost count of the amount of garlic and herb sauces I've tried; none are anywhere near as nice frown

We'll my first attempt went pretty week with some lessons to be learnt.

More coating is needed and the use of self raising flour might help to puff it up a bit. I may also double dip as well.

So here it is.

Sure, but _which_ Krug? I'd recommend Clos d’Ambonnay. You're spot on regarding the kfc chicken itself - it's not the finest, and upping the quality there would be awesome. Still, I doubt their average consumer cares, and to do so would be to admit that their standard chicken is ste

to do it properly you really need a pressure cooker!
