Don't get me started on cranberry/apple sauces!
Thats a little different as they are not cooked with them. You have the option to add cranberry or apple sauce to the plated dish or not. Being cooked with them removes the choice.

Fire roasted Tarantula.

They actually taste very nice. Sometimes the abdomen contains gu that squirts as you bite into it. The gu itself tastes ok, but if the squirt catches you out...... frown

Mmmmm - off to set a couple of Huntsman traps.

Have 4 books in front of me, all of which have good dishes. Just need to decide. May re-do a couple of recent meals :
Pork with Aubergine
Amok trey

In for a penny in for a pound....I'll kick off with my dinner from tonight.

Stir fried beef with lemon grass, chilli, garlic and coriander with a hot, soy, sugar and fish sauce dressing served with Jasmine rice.

Bit pushed for time this week, so not quite what I intended to do (and it is a bit of a cheat). Even so nice and simple and very tasty.

Top efforts so far chaps.

I'm abit skint this month so might have to be a last minute entry again. Got a couple of ideas in my head already. Dont worry nothing outlandishly deconstructed this time, but i'm planning on using some ingredients with I havn't cooked with before.

wink

Here is my submission

Thai Hot & Sour Surf & Turf Salad

Ingredients

Cutting the steak

Dressed on the table

On the Plate

This is a development of Yam Pla Muk from Rick Steins Far Eastern Odyssey. I have supplemented some of the squid with beef and prawns and added Thai basil leaves.

I smell some inter-house rivalry cooking going on here from the last two posts?

Finally managed to find some time to actually join in the fun!

First attempt at documenting it PH cooking competition style (so forgive me if i'm off mark)

But i present to you

Ohn-No Khaukswe (Burmese Chicken Coconut Soup) (adapted from a Madhur Jafferey recipe)

Ingredients

Ingedients prepared (rough, roasted chilli powder made from some dried birds eye chillis we picked up in Portugal last year & some crispy fried shallots to garnish and provide some texture)

On the plate (well in the bowl!)

Close up

C&C welcome, but i tried my best smile

Thanks smile

Tasted gorgeous, a good balance between the quite sour heat and the sweet coconut milk, made something that sounds quite boring "chicken soup" into something delicious

However I won't be consuming it on a school night again...as whilst I love satanically hot food, it doesn't love me

Feel the burn!
