Do we expect any of the other casks to be ready or just the ppx?

Just how soon do you want them and where abouts in Cambridge are you?
No real rush (been waiting over 5 year as it is biggrin). I work in Huntington and live in St Ives, so just round the corner from your folks. So that could be an option - many thanks.

I sent you an email (to a googlemail address) did you get it?

I honestly don't know. Last time I tasted any the only one for sure I was happy with at the time was PPX1. That was over a year ago though and these tiny casks do mature really quickly.

We'll let you know on Thursday night!

Mines were 5 years and a month. They're bloody gorgeous so I wouldn't be surprised it they're ready.

Lunch also sounds good! Not sure which car I will be bringing, will let you know after the weekend but hopefully the Jaaaag if I can sort a vibration.
Vibration sorted so will be in the Jaaag. Reg end in MEH but doubt you will need to look at the reg no to decide if it is me!

Right, I've confirmed 50cl bottles, gold pvc and basic labels for Friday. Remember, we can still add new labels if we want to!

See you all on Thursday!

Everyone all set for tomorrow? It's like being 10 years old again and waiting for Christmas! I'm still planning to meet you all at WB at 2pm so I'll saunter up to the office (as per crmcatee's post at the top of page 29) and hopefully see you all there!

Yes indeed, I'm setting off tomorrow morning, 6.30-ish. Lots of roadworks around Glasgow I believe 😬

I plan on leaving around the same time although 30 miles south to give time for problems with the Jaaag or if none, a bacon roll!

See you at the Bruce around midday

Hurrah, the first octave is bottled! A great big thanks to Lefty for starting this off in the first place!

Having assembled at the Whisky Broker's this afternoon, we spent just over 2 hours touring the premises, learning about Martin's enterprise and looking at thousands upon thousand of litres of whisky! Well worth a visit (if you have whisky in storage - there's no visitor centre (yet...))

Our first born - PPX1 - photos as promised!
Weighing the full octave to get the weight of the wood in order to calculate the volume of spirit

The spirit in the IBC ready for filtering (not all charred elements came from our octave! eek

The calculations for our octave - suffice to say, in 50cl bottles we get about 92.3. The final amount will be sorted once Martin has drained all the dregs and fully bottled the lot. Looks like 9 bottles each and a small amount in a sample bottle as well.

The filtering of the spirit into the bottling container.

Choice of bottle caps - we went for green as they looked good and were the first Martin had received so it seemed rude not to try them!

Bottling and capping in process

The bottled article

Lables for the rest of the bottles

Most of the bottles, capped, labled and almost ready

One for the 'my teeth are itching' thread I think!

All of our octaves (save for number 8 currently missing in action!)

Samples taken ready for tasting tonight

Checking the ABV

How much spirit is in each ocateve (take off either 20 or 22kg for the octave weight - can't remember the exact rough guess)

Roll on this evening when we can taste them all and try to remember what is ready and what is not! drunk
