I've only just found this thread, read the first 10 pages and have now skipped to the end.
If there are slots pending I'd like to opt in.
I don't know if it's been said by the 8 (or whatever) bottles we get out will be cask strength so the equivalent of more bottles at retail strength.

Afternoon chaps, no we never bought any more casks.
Minimum age for bottling is 3 years, maturation for up to 7 years is included FOC (and we can mature it longer if we like for a fee - probably in the region of 2-3p per day per cask).
Hi Lefty! Minimum age for bottling is 3 years, maturation for up to 7 years is included FOC (and we can mature it longer if we like for a fee - probably in the region of 2-3p per day per cask).
So we stand at the original 8 then? Are they now all filled? You sent out 'certificates' for the others - will you be doing the same again (even if it is just a digital download rather than a piece of physical post)?
Oh yes, are they ready yet?

At least 7 years for me. Can't see it being ready at 3.
I think, depending on each cask, we might be ready somewhere between the 5 and 7 year points. They are small casks so everything happens a bit different. We have the bottling and labelling to agree on before then. That will be fun !
Personally I don't mind Glenglassaugh's own bottle as used for the Revival etc - if they are still using it in three or four years time.
Either that or a Jura bottle, as I know Lefty would like to fill that bottle with something he will enjoy.

I really like this idea - gives our whisky a link to where it came from !Personally I don't mind Glenglassaugh's own bottle as used for the Revival etc - if they are still using it in three or four years time.
Be nice to meet a few people as well ? M
Maybe combined with bottling - can we bottle our own cask Lefty ?
No takers on cask number 9 then ?

I obviously need to try more Whiskys.
I wonder if the being taken over has anything to do with the huge price increase in casks purchase price.
From what I remember when these were originally bought they were about the 500-700 mark. Checking on the Glenglassaugh website yesterday at they've doubled in price in the past two years.
Mmmmmm

Good grief - I hadn't realised that they had increased so much !From what I remember when these were originally bought they were about the 500-700 mark. Checking on the Glenglassaugh website yesterday at they've doubled in price in the past two years.

Mind you I still think we should get a Amontillado cask ?

Although wouldn't another distillery be more fun? (As well)
Considering they're now asking £1200 for 50 Litres I fear they've priced themselves out of the market. For about £300 more I was able purchase a Bruichladdich cask with 225 litres.Obviously there will be a higher amount of duty to pay but for the initial purchase Glenglassaugh seems very expensive for what you're getting.
Pity you can't get a Bruichladdich cask anymore.
