Pistonheads whisky cask
Discussion
I missed the bit about the percentage.
I would prefer cask strength but if we need to add a little water to even things out then that would be fine but if we can keep it above 50% that would be ideal in my opinion. I will go with the general concensus though.
As for casks, I think Podie has the right idea

Hi there,
Crikey not looked at this thread for months and all of a sudden we are talking bottles etc.
Happy with the move, can't get up to sample it at Easter but am holidaying in Scotland in August so if we do decide to leave it I would certainly want to try it then.
If you want a better range of bottles then why not try Saverglass
http://www.saverglass.com/en/catalog/spirits
I for one would rather pay a bit more for a special bottle given its going to be 'our' casks and definitely something to keep as well as drink.
In terms of labels as I work in the drinks industry we could drop this guy a line, see if he will do something for not a lot of money.

Strength wise, cask strength for me please, as people have said you can always water it down but making it stronger would be impossible.
Regards
Tim

Sorry, been away for a few days.
Very happy with the move (especially after GG "hospitality" at the last meet/tasting! Strength and bottles - happy whatever the consensus decides.
Easter meet sounds good and I should be home. Will try and crack on with the Cobra and take it for a wee outing! :-)

I haven't sent an email out, no. I thought it easier to have one discussion rather than 30 separate ones.
The casks won't actually be moved until next week sometime do there's still time for us to change our collective mind if anybody has a strong argument against.
To be clear, we're taking about £15 per cask for bonded transport plus a one-off fee of £20 for insurance. So it's £140 in total, £1.75 per share.
The benefit is that WB will allow us to visit and sample at any time plus their bottling fees are considerably cheaper than the distillery. WB have bottled dozens of octaves so far and moved many, many more to their own bonded warehouses.
Cheers

So for me and Pete who generously agreed to halves due to my tardinees on the first (THANKYOU!!) - 8*£1.75 x 1/2 = £7. I assume your bank details are unchanged but await confirmation.Cheers

Get them shifted, it's quite clear Glenglassaugh give exactly no sts about us beyond offering money for the good stuff.

In this month's Scotch Whisky Auction it looks like somebody is auctioning a bottle from their Octave.

Just thought you'd be interested ?
Let's not all bid against each other though ?
£125!! Woof! Even allowing for the chancellor's and the auction house's share, easily the best investment decision I've ever made, although it's intangible and I fully intend to it.https://www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com/auctions/96_t...

Sounds like moving is the best bet for sure. Happy to go with the majority on bottling too.
Any word on progress of the casks other than number 1? Maybe a sampling is in order once they're all moved?
Last time I tasted them the only one mature enough to consider bottling was PPX1.Any word on progress of the casks other than number 1? Maybe a sampling is in order once they're all moved?
A sampling is definitely in order - we have to go to Creetown though!
