Ahh sorry chaps. Well, I met TFatC and Mr and Mrs ClassicMercs at Portsoy but the distillery wouldn't let us see the Ictaves, let alone sample them! Very disappointing and a sad sign of the new corporate times.

The whole feel of the place has changed somewhat.

They promised they would draw a sample the week after our visit but still haven't done so. Nick (TFatC) is reasonably local so when they do eventually get us another sample Nick and I will try it (with anyone else who cares to come up of course!) and update everyone else.

Frustrating doesn't begin to describe our experience I think.
I trust you've fed that back to them via social media have you ? One of these days I'll visit mine I guess they need to be booked prior to visiting ? Having just received the samples with additional paperwork to return I figured it had all changed up there.

Only via email.

They are now only providing samples at 3 and 5 years. What paperwork did you get?

It's a duty free sample form which came with the two samples of the casks I have there.

I've got to sign one and send it back confirming that the samples have been received at the address they were shipped to. Seems strange as it doesn't happen with the other distillery I've got a cask at and as you know didn't happen previously with Glenglassaugh this time last year - which was about the time they got bought.

I think they might be trying to make life as hard as possible for the cask owners!

They made it clear they want to buy it back - seems dragging their heels is the response.

Unfortunately I missed this one. However, happy to throw my weight about if you need any back up.

You're not getting my share! Pistols at dawn? It's a shame they are being awkward but if they offer 100KGBP per cask I might consider selling.......

That is not good, but unfortunately not too suprising either.

Similar Experience here - I waited more than month after asking to get my sample which was months overdue already.
Interesting you didn't get to see them - was that not in the original T's & C's that you could visit them whenever you liked?
(I've misplaced my copy unfortunately)

Might keep an eye on here to see if I can piggy back onto some of your bottlings to see if I can keep my costs down with transport etc - (3½yrs in on a 1st fill Sherry, which is nice but maybe better left a little longer)

ETA at 17miles the distillery is local to me which was part of the attraction

If I remember rightly the first cask is ready to be bottled ?
I think there is a lot of pressure on Lefty as he has suggested its ready, for lots of us visiting is a slim possibility and the way the distillery has changed since the buy-out even if we visited sampling may not be possible.
Samples being sent out is not going to happen so we are left in Lefty's hands or tastebuds so to speak.
Having had the pleasure of meeting Lefty I'll be honest chaps if he says its ready then ready it is.
His knowledge and understanding far outweighs mine and I'm more than happy to trust his judgement.

So that's the pressure off Lefty smile - let's talk labels and bottles !
