Just been given a proper authentic lamb korma recepie. Just need to work out where I can get ghee from. One of my Indian colleages sould be able to sort me out. Or rather his wife, he does not have a clue about food.
Paul, you can buy it in my local Tesco - are you coming out to play on Thursday? I'll bring you some if you are...

Would you be willing to take the pepsi challenge on that one? I'm also curious what ghee brings to the table when cooking a curry ?

P
You leave it in the kitchen usually, rather than bringing it to the table. wink

Richness is probably the most succinict answer as to why.

Okay, off we go then:

Fresh King Prawn Jalfrezi with mushoom rice, home made puri and deep fried crispy prawn heads.

I went for quality ingredients and it did pay off in terms of flavour and satisfaction, although my mushrooms 'bled' in to my rice making it slightly grey in colour.

Prawn heads were very crunchy and added a welcome texture to the dish.

Agreed that it's hard to photograph as curry could be diaorrhea on a photo couldn't it!

I may go for an all veg menu but not quite sure yet.
Your mushroom and bean curry is one of the nicest I've ever had. thumbup
Thanks Jo thumbup and its on the menu this time too ! I will be going for the complete veg indian day especially as this week is Diwali. I have had some marvellous inspiration from the guys at work, mixed with Roops Onion Bhaji and BatleyBoys Dhal

I was going to do a lamb biryani but have been persuaded by the veggie feast (albeit a few days late !)

We agreed 5 if you read above. I've taken one off so as not to benefit from an extra image.

Ok so here are the pictures: before, during, after and on the plate:

Ingredients assembled (canned chopped tomatoes and onions not in the shot):

Cooking off onions, garlic ginger and the rest of the massala, plus the browned meat:

After slow cooking for approx 2hrs, in a low oven:

Served with some (admittedly shop bought) parathas:

I can write up the method later, overall I was happy with the result - but would add curry leaves and more chana dal.

Bobs Vegetarian Curry

Featuring
Lobhia Aur Khumbi
Saag Bhaji
Tarka Dhal
Kheere Ka Raita
Pyas Bhaji
Dhaniye Naan

Ingredients

Tomato and Mushroom sauce thickening before adding to the beans

Onion Bhaji ready to be deep fried

On the Table

On the Plate

As mentioned above, the onion bhaki and tarka dhal recipies are from PH threads by Roop and Batley Boy respectively and have previously featured on photo of my dinner. The raita went well with the naan and omion bhaji and the mixture of dhals worked well together. The beans with mushrooms and tomato was a star as always. Overall well balanced and very tasty and I'm well pleased with the result. The only thing on the table not cooked or prepared by myseelf was the aubergine pickle.
