They look jolly good, really super. I congratulate you on leaving out the raisons too, a wise decision. Although the jam reminds me of one of Maggie Smith's best lines in Gosford Park "bought jam", spoken in disapproving a manner.

Have you uncovered a batch of edible ready meals or have some been shipped over to you?

Ryvita things with cottage cheese and a bowl of salad. It'll be worth it in the long run although the carbonara above is making me depressed.

I've never been tempted to contribute to this thread before, but here goes...

Looking good so far...

Just add gravy, for the full 'garden pea volcano' effect...

When there's no roasting pan/veg water what do you do for gravy, instant?

Yup. The stuff in the squeezy tube, that you whisk up with boiling water. It's not the best (no substitute for gravy made in the roasting tin), but it does the job better than granules, IMHO.

That was supposed to be a family meal, a 'quick fix' after a day out. So I lobbed the sausages in the oven for half an hour, and put the potatoes on...

...at which point, everyone else who was supposed to joining me said that they no longer fancied the mash, etc. So they had theirs in rolls, and I smashed every bit of the mash (with butter and milk, too) that I could scrape from the pan. I microwaved enough peas to fill the hollow, and whisked up the instant gravy while I waited. I got lucky too, with the gravy quantity - the hollow in the mash fortunately held some of it, or it'd have spilled off the plate, as I poured it on a bit too quickly.

I think the main reason I didn't 'dip up' the last of the gravy with a slice of bread was the fact that it was the instant stuff. If it were 'proper' gravy, I'd have been 'dipping up' the pan along with my plate wink
