You're not helping. irked

I'm very happy with my moka stove top, cafetiere and filter cone - all cheap as chips.
Now you're convincing me to spend north of 250 knicker to do the same job.

Good old PH.

Grover. Skint again.

Same as OP but im currently using Makro's own brand Rioba Gold stuff the grinds a bit too fine and I regularly find myself chewing on grind but thats part of the charm for me. I take a flask to work everyday with 3 cups of coffee in make with my Moka (stovetop coffee maker) so i prefer to buy cheap coffee to put in it. Its still far far far better than the crap out of the machines.

Surprised no one has mentioned the AeroPress yet!

Very impressed with it for making Americanos, and so much better than a cafetiere or drip machine!

Still use the Nespresso machine for espressos and cappuccinos though. smile

I've always thought the bean - to - cup 'real' machines will be expensive and high maintenance etc?
The one I posted pics of requires the following "effort"

I fill the reservoir about once every 5 days.
I Empty the hopper of 'spent' coffee pucks at the same time.
I fill the Beans hopper about once a week.
nono
Fresh water daily, or twice if left unused for a long period.
Only put as much beans in the hopper as you'll use that day.

Filter cone, papers, Waitrose Columbian blend, and boiling water.

I inherited the filter cone from my parents. They always had it and I don't remember them buying it. I suspect it's older than I am.

I use my La Pavoni Professional http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/B0055BU9... at the weekends (and odd morning when not in a rush), with freshly ground beans from my Ascaso grinder http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/B002RAQP... it's not the quickest way to get a coffee, but it's relaxing and satisfying knowing that you made it.

Like Grover.. caffitiers I find to much mess to clean out, however don't mind cleaning up the mess from above.

Was using a Moka pot for the last 6months or so after I 'got into' coffee following a few work trips to Italy. Deliberated about going all out and spending money on a proper Espresso machine, but in the end went for a Nespresso machine (Magimix Citiz + milk). I totally appreciate it may be considered as Vauxhall Conference grade coffee by espresso afficionados, but the convenience and quality is good enough for me.

I have one of these...

and one of these...

My morning routine is:

Coffee machine comes on with auto timer
Boil Kettle
Put beans in grinder
Grind Beans
Run water through machine to get temperature up
Dose beans into portafilter (double shot)
Tamp down coffee
Attach portafilter
Deliver espresso into mug
Add hot water to make am Americano
Throw away grinds
Rinse portafilter
Rinse water through machine
Drink Coffee

Sounds complicated but I can do the whole thing in a couple of minutes and tastes better than anything you can buy.

Have got a Jura F70, must be at least 8 years old now. It was rather expensive at i seem to recall just over a grand, and had one agent service because the grinder was getting a bit blunt, but the control panel does say that it is approaching the 15,000 cup mark so has not done too badly so far and still going strong, and with good quality coffee beans costing me the equivalent of 5 to 10 quid a kilo has in the long run probably worked out as good value, tasty coffee too!!
