How can the taste of vodka have got in there? Alcohol is not vodka, nor does it taste like it
Vodka is 40% alcohol, 60% water, not much else. Funnily enough the dominant flavour of vodka is alcohol, and a wine at 14% ABV has a stronger alcohol flavour than one at 12.i reckon pure alcohol is nearer 170 proof. in other news , our local aldi is forever running out of stock . the branch has been there at least six months so maybe demand should have settled down.
the fruit and veg section was almost empty , with us having to stop at another supermarket to buy some salad. is this limited to my local branch or are other people finding this too?

There's a problem with getting some fresh fruit and veg at the moment. Aldi normally advertise their super 6, but on their website it says to go into the store to find out the local offers as they will differ from store to store.the fruit and veg section was almost empty , with us having to stop at another supermarket to buy some salad. is this limited to my local branch or are other people finding this too?
bds have done it again - changed suppliers and product without saying. I used to enjoy their tomato soup. It was better than Heinz and dare I say it better than another soup manufacturer where I worked. Happy days, until a few days ago when I went in and saw a new label. Aye, aye. Here we go. Yep, changed product. It's now like bat's p*ss. F*ing thank you Aldi. Yet another product that you have bought cheaper from someone else and rendered crap. This race for the bottom does you no favours.

Lidl's Tom soup is good, again better that the Heinz variety.V8mate said:
Warning: The following post may contain nuts.
Peanut butter alert!
Aldi has got its Specially Selected variant in again. So yummy!
In the Aisle of Dreams, not with the regular products in the jams and spreads section.
What are the ingredients, specifically does it contain sugar? as the cheaper ones do, the better don't.Peanut butter alert!

Five grammes less fat, but five grammes more sugar. Which becomes fat anyway. So, basically, the same

Here it is next to Aldi's 'wholenut peanut butter'.

Basically not at all. You can't turn 5g sugar into 5g fat. If you could we wouldn't be worrying about cold fusion because energy would be free.Five grammes less fat, but five grammes more sugar. Which becomes fat anyway. So, basically, the same

I find it interesting that generally people are having good experiences with Aldi, I've found them to be terrible and have given up. We recently had a big new shiny Aldi open up in our town, so I was happy to switch from the Lidl I'd been using in the next town, but I've had to take things back after every shop at Aldi (once a week over several weeks). I can't remember the last time I've had to (or even been bothered to) return goods to a supermarket, if indeed I've ever taken anything back over the decades.
Stock shortages (Yes, I know that you just can't do a full shop in Aldi/Lidl, but they should at least have adequate stock of what they do purport to sell).
Appalling shelf life (don't think this can be put in the cupboard/fridge and eaten towards the end of the week, it's about had it right now as it is).
Rubbish fresh produce (veg/meats), and I do mean rubbish, stuff that is actually rotten and when the bag is opened the stench makes me wretch (I've had to take back a number of butchery items).
It does seem good (and good value too) for stuff in tins/jars/bottles/packets/boxes, but that's about it.
Anyway, I've given up on them and had started to return to the Lidl in the next town, although it too has similar issues (but I've never had to take anything back because it was unfit for consumption). But I did a one off full shop this week at the local Morrisons that I used to use for twenty odd years and I'd sort of forgotten just how good the usual big UK chains are, I can shop just as well, just as cheaply, I can get everything I want too, with BB dates that would see me through a nuclear winter. I do wonder why I ever changed in the first place.
