I do enjoy a rum & coke of an evening, and tried this about a month ago:-

It is bloody lovely, and for 15 quid a bargain. Gently spiced and not as sweet as Kraken; similar to O.V.D. but softer on the palate. The full 40 volts as well.

Might give this a go tomorrow. I tend to drink whisky+ soda water and want to steer away from this. I was never fond of rum in the past but want to get into it now. My big gripe is many rums seem to be 35-37%, having recently tried captain morgan's spiced its just a little too sweet.

Yeah, Morgan Spiced is way too sweet; tried it once, never again (much like a Venezuelan Diplomatica Reserva which was like Tia Maria with added kick). Amber rums can be really good to mix with coke. They're quite fruity, but still unmistakably rum - Mount Gay Eclipse / Kingston 62 / Havana Club are good starting points IMO.

having had a couple of glasses so far with soda its actually not bad. although it doesnt taste like something that's 40%, a little deceptive as it might make you pour a little more than usual.

I've been tempted to try it but I've got 5 bottles of Kraken in my spirits cupboard, not bought a bottle in probably a decade. In fact I've sold some to colleagues and friends as i invariably receive at leat 1 bottle for xmas and birthday.

tend to keep 1 kraken and 1 other run on the go for flip/flop comparisons. I've just finished a bottle of black magic so the second spot is open. (black magic thicker, richer with much more treacle to taste... generally better than kraken)

my problem is mixers, i buy them and before i come to drink them i find they're gone

Off topic but to add for rum - Chairman's spiced is a cracker.

Back to Aldi, I wish they'd release a bacon and sausage range without the nitrites like a 'Naked' rip off.

Just asked my OH, as she works for the company that makes Naked bacon and also supplies Aldi with sausages etc. There are no plans to do a rip off at the moment.

Boo!

Excellent insider knowledge though - that's far more useful gossip than share price information!

While in my local Aldi, I spotted Roast Beef with Horseradish crinkle cut crisps and thought I would give them a try. Brilliant smile

They sound good. I bought some jalapeño flavour pretzels pieces in Aldi , they were very nice.

Can’t buy them any more as I can’t stop before the end of the bag

I’m kind of the opposite tbh, I’ll avoid businesses that are cash only as it’s an inconvenience.

Sorry lads, you’ll just have to pay tax like everyone else.
Wrong thread?

Tried them a while back and was more than a little disappointed.
The Aldi snack I find like crack is the mini bruschetta they occasionally stock.

I've been trying all the different 2 step curry sauces from Aldi. Had the Balti one tonight, think it's my favourite, bit of a kick without taking your head off. I had it with chicken but think it's probably better suited to a dark meat. I'm not much of a lamb fan so will try it with beef.

I’m a fan of the Rogan Josh in the jars

Seconded. Its mild but great taste.

The Madras is a bit too sharp for me (not the heat - just a bit too bitter)

Yeah Rogan Josh was good, also not sold on the Madras. Jalfrezzi was decent.
