ALDI & LIDL Food and Drink Worth Trying?

Stone baked ciabatta 75p
10am this morning Stourport on Severn
HTH
Mind you this drive by stores to change their lines can be a blessing or a curse, particularly when they use the mealy mouthed excuse that there was no call for it / always out of stock.
Yes Tesco and Sainsburys looking at you idiots. Not in stock because it sells out every day by 11am. It's not lack of demand it's you not got your acts together.

I've only managed to shop at Aldi once. Every other time that I have tried, the queues at the tills have been horrendous, so I haven't bothered.
Go around 7 pm early in the week. I go on a Monday and there are about 6 other people in the store.I always loved the Yoghurt fruit sweets that are a rip off of Campino (I think). I lobbied Aldi when they discontinued them several months ago but to no avail. However on Monday I found that my local store had about 15 packs of them. Now they have none but they might be back in stock permanently. Gorgeous creamy boiled sweets.
Might not be aldi or lidl, but these are excellent for their price.

Lidls:
Bresaola from their "Deluxe" range - not bad, good flavour once warmed up and goes well with a few capers and rocket.
Pata Negra - better than average Serrano but not a patch on stuff you carve yourself, even from one of their cheap hams.
Hazelmead smoked back bacon - bit too sweet tasting for me, bit thin (isn't all supermarket bacon) but doesn't seem to contain as much water as some others.
Overall, all good for the money.

Just had the Aldi pulled beef. 30 minutes in the oven with some BBQ sauce. Served in Pitta's with a mixed leaf salad and red onion it was bloody delicious. Relatively low fat, it'll definitely be in the trolley next time.
Also trying the specially selected Ethiopian ground coffee. Wasn't too hopeful on opening the bag as it didn't smell too fresh, but through the Aeropress it made a decent brew. Only £2 a bag at the moment.

I have conducted my own Wheat Bisks () vs. Weetabix challenge and I can't tell the difference.
I don't live particularly near an ALDI, but I tend to pop there once a month or so to stock up on stuff that we need. Their washing powder, washing up liquid, drinks, breakfast cereals etc. are quite excellent. We also use their nappies for our son and they're great.

I popped into a big Lidl in Granada (Spain) a couple of weeks ago, just for a look.
The range was huge compared to the UK and the prices were bordering on the ridiculous!
One example stuck in mind, a whole Mortadella sausage for €1.99.
Same price as 10 or so slices in the UK.
The Lidls in Portugal are very good, where as the Aldis are quite poor. The in store bakers do great bread! The range was huge compared to the UK and the prices were bordering on the ridiculous!
