ALDI & LIDL Food and Drink Worth Trying?
Discussion
The Aldi Haversham Cream Sherry is delicious and only a fiver a bottle. Now, this is proper sherry and not some piss that old women drink at Christmas. It's incredibly rich and deep. It has a lot of rich, spicy fruit on the nose which accompanies a nutty flavour in the palette. It's got a lovely creamy, glossy mouth feel with a long finish. Absolutely marvellous stuff.
Sherry is a well kept secret in the UK. It has a serious image problem here but it's a stunningly good product with a deep and interesting Spanish history.

The £2.99 wagyu burgers will be back at Aldi tomorrow - I'll be getting some
They were large and tasty when i tried them last time. Not cheap but worth a go.One tip - as they are pretty thick it helps to cook then in the oven, rather than frying/grilling.
I bought the Wagu burgers a few weeks back and did them in the frying pan and was impressed.
However, they were back in again on Thursday so I bought some more but put them in the oven with some Aldi wedges. I've never done burgers in the oven before.
With the brioche buns, mayo and salad... Awesome!
Oh and the Aldi fondant fancies are exactly the same as Mr Kiplins - we did a back to back test.
Tried one of their free range chickens for dinner today: https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/product-range/fresh-bake...
Very nice taste & seemed great value.

If you can get hold of the Venison and Wild Boar Salami they have in at the minute, grab it! It's fantastic. I've just been eating the boar salami with some 'Durhamfoods' pease pudding, also from Aldi. The pease pudding is a fantastic example of the cuisine.
Can you get pease pudding outside of the North East and Scotland?

They appear to be stocking Class A Bananas - got to be worth a try ?

I popped into a big Lidl in Granada (Spain) a couple of weeks ago, just for a look.
The range was huge compared to the UK and the prices were bordering on the ridiculous!
One example stuck in mind, a whole Mortadella sausage for €1.99.
Same price as 10 or so slices in the UK.
The Lidls in Portugal are very good, where as the Aldis are quite poor. The in store bakers do great bread! The range was huge compared to the UK and the prices were bordering on the ridiculous!

As for these brioche buns, I've heard a lot about them...are they really THAT good?

They're more expensive than other packed rolls - but they also have a lot of butter content in them. Also the pack I bought had a month's shelf life whereas everyday bread rolls have a couple of days.I liked them as a change - but they were a bit too rich for everyday eating
