At Lidl: sliced mortadella and bresaola, £1.99 a pack.

The mortadella is especially good as it's in nice thick slices. I also rate the sliced gammon ham in the same section of the 'fridge.
I love the Mortadella from Lidl.

Aldi's Salmon en Croute is great too, amazing value.

Also snaffle a couple of empty cardboard boxes from fruit and veg for stuff, added advantage ofthat being that the OH likes to play with empty boxes when she is given them, and not until she is given them, she knows that, and it gets an outlet for any destructive tendencies, I have learnt.
Ah, the wonder of cardboard...
Lol, if only.

Yep spotted that thanks. Looks like folks in the office on Thursday will be wondering why the kitchen fridge will be stocked with burgers.

Must say I always find Aldi a very stressful experience. Almost worth paying the extra for Sainsbury's as it saves me a drive through town and no bashing around in the store itself.

Although they do have some Bellini at the moment for £3 a bottle. At that price may as well buy some and stick them in the fridge for summer.

Very stressful. Narrow isles, lots of people going in all different directions, occasional pallets of stuff in the isle where staff are refilling the shelves... Its a fecking nightmare.

I agree, it is a mammoth pain in the arse. I just retaliate by shifting crap anywhere I like and leaving it there. I let half a dozen bags of dogfood in the aisle the other week because they hadn't left space for a trolley to get past.

They don't seem to care much.

The first time that I went to my local Aldi, I gave up when I saw the queues at the tills. I put all my stuff back on the shelves, and left.

We now only go on a Sunday at 9:45am, before the crowds arrive.

The beef seems to be particularily good. Their rum(white or golden), is also bloody superb.

I stopped at Lidl on the way home to get some knock off Nespresso capsules and picked up some 'Northwood' Bakewell tarts, I was impressed, just as good as Nr Krippling. Got some of their foreign chocolate too for the missus, she commented that it was nice.

The 28 day dry aged ribeye, sirloin & rump steaks are pretty good as well as good value but I've yet to see the mythical Wagyu burgers, or any tickets for them on an empty shelf of the meat section.

Perhaps you have to get there just before they open?

Same here, never seen the Wagyu burgers either. The frozen simply the best ones are good though, I stock up on a few boxes of them every visit.

I'm surprised they don't call their cakes 'Herr Kipplezing' They are identical! We did a 'back to back' test of the fondant fancies: exactly the same.

And I'm pretty sure that McCoys make Aldi's ridged crisps.

really?

I'll have to give them another try. I remember buying them a few years back and they were a terrible comparison. Crisps are one of the few things that I felt let Aldi down (although as I say, not tried them for a while and things have certainly improved in that time!)
