I had one today - didn't find it salty either.

I sometimes go into Aldi and Lidl, but can't ever get enough stuff that I need. They do have some good products, but stock levels are inconsistent.

I am surprised they haven't been pulled up about their labelling. Too many products are designed and labelled to look the class leading product.

Half the time I go in I end up buying loads of stuff I don't need just to try.

We've just had our first wagyu burgers, bacon cheeseburgers as it happens.

Melt in the mouth.
Miss FiF Best burger she's ever had.
Mrs FiF Extremely good, good job bought extras.
Both of them would have preferred the burger to be a little thinner, but I think that's going to increase the chance of over cooking and toughness.
But definitely not too salty, in fact not salty at all.

If the Lidl venison and pork are better than these then they must be seriously good.
At the end of the day it's about personal taste. Try the V&P burgers, you'll not be disappointed.

Not sure if any good, but I have 2 of these to test out, at that price they can be terrible and I will skin the second one for crackling and put it in curry.

http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/1970.htm?action=showDetai...

in case it doesnt appeal its this:

For £2.99 instead of £5.99

Must say I always find Aldi a very stressful experience. Almost worth paying the extra for Sainsbury's as it saves me a drive through town and no bashing around in the store itself.

Although they do have some Bellini at the moment for £3 a bottle. At that price may as well buy some and stick them in the fridge for summer.
You find it stressful walking around a medium sized shop? Life must be one big uphill struggle for you

You were lucky there Du1Point8

I made a special trip to my local Lidls and asked where the pork joints were and was told they'd all gone. Before 10am as well! I find this happens a lot with their 1/2 price weekend meat offers. I made do with 10 blocks of the 1/2 price dark chocolate instead biggrin

I was there just after 8am as I was at a trade show for 10am... It was not because I was hanging out the front waiting for it to open.

I did pick up quite a lot of the chocolate too.

I went around 2.30pm. Loads of Pork joints left, picked up one along with some of the chocolate. How big are the squares!!
Shame the Fruit and Nut wasn't half price too though, just the milk and plain.

I think its the new challenge Toblerone size... least when this snaps off it isn't taking the roof of your mouth or your nose out.

The squares are big - I manage to break it in vague triangle shapes. Very moreish smile For 49p I'm not too fussed about breaking up a big block of chocolate biggrin
They did this offer about 4 months ago and I bought 10 blocks then...I finished them within about 2 months biggrin

Gretchen, I thought you lived close to me and might use the Bedford Lidls so surprised they had them later in the afternoon.

Just like almost everyone else in this thread I too tried the wagyu burgers today.

Well unfortunately my sister, brother in law and my better half all loved them, as did I so I'm all out. Can people please stay out of the store in Sale so I can stock up.

The Wagyu burgers are immense - there is some amount of eating in them.

Went to my local Aldi store and bought three packs of these famed burgers. There must have been 50-60 packs in the store, there were so many I thought I had the wrong product.

Yet to try them...

Bramwell's Chilli Gherkins, can demolish a jar of these in one sitting. Closest thing I've found to Delicia's Banderillas, which seems to have disappeared from all supermarkets.

The chocolate was good, what had of it. Big mistake to say to the kids "you can have a couple of squares each" before opening it...!

I'm nearer to St Neots, people there have simple tastes wink

Are these in frozen or fresh. A new Aldi just opened a mile from me and I've not found anything exciting yet frown

For the Lidlers, 'King of the Grill' BBQ briquettes.

Charcoal being sold out everywhere else, I grudgingly bought a bag thinking they'd be crap, but no! The heat lasted for ages, plus the briquettes impart a lovely smoky flavour I think would be perfect for jerking or slow smoking.

Even better, they're currently on offer at £4 for two 5Kg bags. I bought all I could carry today, but may well go back for more tomorrow.
