For the Lidlers, 'King of the Grill' BBQ briquettes.
Charcoal being sold out everywhere else, I grudgingly bought a bag thinking they'd be crap, but no! The heat lasted for ages, plus the briquettes impart a lovely smoky flavour I think would be perfect for jerking or slow smoking.
Even better, they're currently on offer at £4 for two 5Kg bags. I bought all I could carry today, but may well go back for more tomorrow.
Cheers for the heads up. I don't 'do' Lidl but I'll head in and pick up a few. Charcoal being sold out everywhere else, I grudgingly bought a bag thinking they'd be crap, but no! Agreed though sometimes they're a bit smoky whilst getting them fired up in the chimney if you pick up the ones that have been stored outside.
Also tried some of the charcoal packs. Not usually a fan of those instant lighting packs, but if you ensure that there's plenty of airflow while it's firing up you get a good heat. Just the right quantity for a cheeky grill session, 4 packs in the bag.

Bramwell's Chilli Gherkins, can demolish a jar of these in one sitting. Closest thing I've found to Delicia's Banderillas, which seems to have disappeared from all supermarkets.
Couldn't see the chilli ones this morning so I bought a jar of normal ones. See how long they last.Stocked up on a few packs of the specially selected bacon, I'd recommend it!

YES! I shall be paying a visit tonight. I can also recommend their spicy chorizo.

THEY'RE ON THE SHELVES TODAY!! (Six packs bought so they'd better be good...)
Tried our second lot a couple of days ago. Thought the first lot were too fatty (and a bit salty) so cooked this lot for much longer. Still too fatty so won't be buying again. Lidl's venison snd pork burgers on the other hand.......IanA2 said:

Whether they are significantly better than others at the same price I don't know. I've only eaten burgers I have made myself for at least the past 8-9 years.
I found the texture quite soft (cooked medium) and you can tell there is a higher fat content which is not unpleasant but different. As for seasoning I noted previous comments and did not season with salt before cooking. The final taste was pretty much what I would have wanted but if I had added salt it would have been too much for me.
Would I buy again? Probably not, I'll stick to making my own.

We mostly make our own burgers too, the only burgers that we've found equal or better are Lidl's venison and pork offerings. Very good indeed.Whether they are significantly better than others at the same price I don't know. I've only eaten burgers I have made myself for at least the past 8-9 years.

You've mentioned those Lidl venison and pork burgers a few times. Not seen them in ours. Are they a regular / special line? Fresh / Frozen?
??
Fresh and special, have only seen them once. They have venison burgers this week but I'm not sure they are the V&P version. Not looked yet, if they are V only I suspect they'll not have enough fat. You've mentioned those Lidl venison and pork burgers a few times. Not seen them in ours. Are they a regular / special line? Back on wagyu for a mo. For the first time cooked these by frying in a griddle pan. Can see why people are saying they're fatty and not that special. A league below in comparison to the normal way I've cooked them which is on a charcoal kettle grill, not over the direct heat , lid on until the last few seconds for a direct over coals crisp up. Then a mini assembly of crispy smoked bacon, well caramelised onions and jack cheese melted over the top before final assembly in toasted bun with condiments etc of choice.
Definitely not going to be any method other than charcoal grill from now on.
