Me and the Mrs got a nice bottle of Prosecco from Aldi the other day, award winning jobbie for about £7.
There's cheaper ones but really enjoyed that

That one ^

Not aldi but lidl this time, Pork mince 500g for £1.29 strangely only 6% fat to I always presumed it would be higher in fat than beef mince. I've never used pork mince before so as its on offer thought I'd try it, chucked it in a chilli and pretty happy. May get a few packs and see what I can do with it.

I buy loads from aldi and lidl now and 95% happy with own brand. Their pot noodles are rank though and peperamis are not a patch on the branded versions.

Mix pork mince and beef mince 50:50 for yummy home made meatballs!

Burgers in Finland seem to be 50:50 pork and beef, not tried them yet as Im a bit of a simple person and prefer them to be 100% beef.

I am on a very low income these days so I have to be very careful with shopping. Aldi pot noodles and pepperami are terrible.

I prefer their curry pot noodle to the real curry pot noodle!

To me it is the composition of the actual noodles themselves that are a bit strange.
Although I cannot really taste much these days because my taste buds are not functioning correctly.

If you tread carefully, Iceland isn't bad at all.

Their mixed frozen veg selections are very good.

I've just visited an Iceland store for the first time in many, many years and been shocked at the vast array of meat and fish eek

They had loads of frozen seafood including scallops, lobsters, lobster tails, seabass, plus cleaned squid tubes, which I think are a great buy frozen. The meat section was very impressive, with ostrich fillets & burgers, kangaroo fillets, burgers & sausages, rabbit fillet, venison haunch & burgers, boar sausages & burgers.

I'll definitely be popping back to see what some of these are like.
Can recommend the large frozen prawns and the salt and pepper squid.

Have seen artic royal in another supermarket, whole foods market.

So if in there, the quality must be good, plus cheaper in Iceland.

I'm thoroughly impressed by the Lidl Western Gold 6 year old bourbon. It was 20% off this weekend, so £12 instead of the usual £15.

If they're in Wholefoods it must be a decent brand, I generally only use Wholefoods for those hard to find ingredients due to their, errr, generous pricing hehe.
We use it as the OH thinks buying organic is best for her lunches, I just happened to wander past a freezer and recognised the brand in there as I buy it every now and again when I fancy some squid/calamari

We keep trying in our local ALDI, and I have to say that the choice you get in the UK vs. the continent is vast. Our local (quite large) ALDI is RUBBISH. frown

Yep, there is one in Trollhättan and it's utter ste compared to the one I use in the UK.

There is a Netto near to us though, that's very good and has the Aldi/Lidl type bargains.

Can vouch the same for the Finnish ones near Nokia and Tampere, absolute crap and more expensive than the UK.

Same here, when I read of people picking up Steak & Stilton pies at Aldi, it just doesn't compute.
