Still haven't found these burgers. I'm assuming they are in the fresh meat section, not frozen??
No gin crisps visible either.

Did pick up one of these today. Reassuringly sturdy at almost 1.6kg. May pop back for the other sizes if Mrs thinks it's any good.

Also got a tyre inflator for £16. Great value.

Fresh, all the Aldi stores I've been in, all 3 of them, they're in exactly the same place. Back wall opposite the entrance doors, extreme left hand end in the special meat buys section of the fresh meat coolers. Seem to go quickly, have to keep an eye on the website for when on sale next.

The Crofton cookware is pretty good from Aldi, we have a cast iron shallow casserole and cast iron griddle from there.

They're building one in Worcester opposite the current Blackpole site. Jan 16 opens, includes self checkouts and proper tills with space to pack.

Finally got round to trying the wagyu burgers, was pleasantly surprised.

No money shot, they didn't last long enough...

Lovely mods on the new build but I hope they don't come away from what people use them for.

I remember my manager sending me to LIDL to fetch his tea with a 2p coin. Can of beanslaugh

And if you're lucky you might even see two of those tills manned.

Someone has had the brilliant idea of dividing the checkouts with a little bit of wood so a customer can be served whilst another packs.

I seem to remember this idea circa 1978 in Sainsburys!

They are all like that in Sweden I seem to remember. Clever but a bit confusing if the divider doesn't go over.

They are. ICA have some stores where there can be three people packing at once. Really helps with the queues, as does being able to enter you pin whilst they are scanning your food and just hitting "OK" when they're done and the price comes up.

I wish they wouldn't fiddle with a tried and tested formula. In Germany, you don't pack at the till. You clear your stuff back into your trolley and then pack it on the ledge by the window. That also means you can remove packaging and leave it at the store, which forms part of waste disposal legislation there.

But no, because Englanders are too thick to understand 'don't pack your bag at the till!', they have to build the stores differently.

And the thing is, I don't suppose it'll be too many years before we follow Germany's lead on packaging here anyway. So people will have to re-pack anyway.

The newly built Aldi local to me uses the system where you pack your shopping after you have paid; either back at the car or on the shelves at the front of the store.

Same at both Lidls here and at the newer Aldi where the speed of goods through checkouts would win an Olympic gold.
