That's fair enough. I hate to sound like a tt but when I'm in the UK I don't have time to shop every few Days as I'm usually working flat out, so I want a bit of a longer shelf Life from my produce. I'm not slagging it, but Lidl produce in particular wastes far quicker than the other supermarkets.

I dont expect my vegs to last too long, if they do then I suspect they are chemically enhanced, which I do not want.

Plus chucking stuff as rotten after a few days isn't in any way buying a week's worth. We're talking the small bags, not a big 28 lb one.

Budgie old fruit, just for your comprehension, a few days is less than a week, as in 2/3 days. Your experience is different, but I agree with BrabusMog on shelf life, unfortunately.

Comprehension not really required old bean.

But I am sure you will realise that vegs are not expected to last so long unless they are chemically treated to do so.

Clearly comprehension is required. Where have I said that I require stuff to last a long time after purchase. Please point it out. Hint, you can't. ,

Spuds have a growing season. So they are stored to give availability out of season. It has always been thus.

Getting off topic now, old fruit, aren't we.

Originally we were talking about Aldi/Lidl vegs going off--yes or no ??

I find the quality of vegetables at Lidl to be variable. Usually, they are fine, but every now and again, they seem to be very near the end of their shelf life.

We have had stuff go off after just a couple of days, which I felt was shocking.

In our local Lidl a year or so ago there was either an area manager or produce buyer in there going ballistic at the Manager and assistant Manager for the state of fresh veg literally throwing stacks of stuff into a bin as it was either too short or not quality stuff.
Needless to say its been much better since.

Oh dear, we're all wrong apparently, according to the feathered one above our expectations are too much in expecting stuff to last a couple of days.

More seriously, interesting to see others with similar variable experiences.

From experience the fresh veg at Aldi/Lidl tends to go off quicker than stuff bought from any of the "big" supermarkets, maybe because it isn't treated with stuff to make it last longer?

Going against the flow here, we've generally found Lidl's fruit & veg quality and flavour to be better than stuff from other supermarkets; and we don't find that the shelf life any less than it should be. Perhaps it depends on individual the individual store.

lidl beef wellington is damn good! if you're a big eater, the frozen deluxe for 2 is ideal for 1 with some greens. just need 1 of the sachets of sauce, not both.

i think it was around £6 iirc.

Bit of a lazy sod here (and also someone who never really goes into Lidl)...

...But does anyone know if they make any footlong sized subs/breads at LIDL? Don't have aldi near me. I fancy making my own sandwiches much like subway, but don' really want to pay as much as £5 for one like subway. I'm sure it could be done at home for less than half that.
