It all depends in my experience, agree about WaitNotSoRosey, our Lidl is variable, some fruit and veg is spot on, some not, definitely not, minority of stuff tbh but sufficiently often to avoid those product lines. Not had any problems in Sainsbury's, but found something dodgy once in Tesco. Odd errors, well they happen, once bitten, fair enough, twice bitten, take a careful look, thrice bitten not shopping there again for that product.
I find that the fruit and veg is variable in both Lidl and Aldi. We check it very carefully. I cannot remember seeing mouldy items in either shop, but we have had stuff go off in 24 hours.

Agreed it doesn't always have the shelf life of other supermarkets' fresh produce. We buy only what we'll use within a couple of days but if we ever have anything left it's peeled, chopped and frozen.

I had a pack of their specially selected chilli sausage rolls at lunch time. They were very good for the price. Not as good as M&S equivalent but good nevertheless.

Haven't tried the Aldi version but Lidl's Panettone is very good. Also their Pandoro ain't too shabby. Makes a brill bread & butter pudding.

A traditional Italian way of serving them is to scoop out the inside, mix it with ice cream and re-stuff it. Very nice smile

Anyone here drink Aldi's 'Del-Rivo' 100% pure squeezed smooth orange juice?

We reckon the flavour has changed in the cartons we've bought in the last few days. Still very nice but a with a bit more orangey tang; definitely different than the last lot we bought. We've both noticed it and think it must be a different variety of orange.

Or oranges picked at a different stage of ripeness....?

I like most Aldi food. But had a few bad steaks.

But I find the pre made sandwich's are awful. No filling in them at all

I had a southern fried chicken wrap yesterday, it was ok.

Had a few of their craft lagers this evening (the 330ml bottles) they are all very good for £1.19

I've been enjoying some 99p ALDI craft ales.
The porter is especially good.
Thanks to this thread I ended up with some Spill The Beans and minced pie ice cream on my weekly visit last night. Both very nice. Aldi also have Wychwood Brewery's (who make Hobgoblin) Crimbo ale Bah Humbug in. Bought a bottle and left it at my mate's. Bugger! Will have to pick up another next week

Slightly OT but today bought an Aldi Christmas tree, real one, just under 6' tall and £19. Hopefully it will last!

Tried the Christmas Mince Pie Ice Cream last night.

Carefully co-ordinated with a gently warmed mince pie, it was most agreeable!

Don't be stupid. Choose your battles. This one is not worth fighting.

The frozen pizza in the black box, Etna I think it's called with the pepperoni and nduja sausage - perfect!

Has anyone tried the Aldi premium gins? I normally drink Blooms and wondered how they stack up against it, specifically the Aldi Gin Mare.

Nduja, serious (wonderful) stuff. Check out the meat to chilli ratio in this recipe:

I think the Land of Liberty ale is the pick of that range. I'm currently enjoying a Sadler's Mud City Stout at £1.25 a bottle. The Bah Humbug is a decent winter ale though I preferred the Dunkel Fester Halloween ale.
