OK - so you need to soak the TTD oats overnight as well then. I will try that, presumably the soaking in milk takes part in the fridge?
Have just checked the packet, and there's no mention of pre-soaking the oats.
No I don't soak the TTD oats when making porridge, only when making muesli.

For porridge, measure of oats, I also put raisins and sultanas in for sweetness, plus chopped dates if we have any. Milk. Full power microwave 3 mins, stir. Then 30% power for another three, stir. Then judge if it needs a little more time, if so quick blast on full welly stirring every minute or so until texture correct.

For me the mechanical action of the stirring is necessary, but prefer the larger oats as they did take longer to digest, hence even lower GI.

I have to wonder - why are Aldi having so much horse gear for sale - I wouldn't have thought there was that much call for a discounter type store to stock it confused
you could say the same about thier recent Ski equipment special - not exactly a cheap hobby or holiday.
I ski every year, I know it's not a cheap hobby. However, this doesn't mean I have to do it in expensive clothes. I have an Aldi ski jacket which is on its 5th season this year, it cost me £10 and does everything I need it to do. I also get the children new jackets/trousers there, or the cheap stuff in Decathlon if I miss the Aldi/Lidl specials, every time they out grow stuff. I see no reason to spend £200+ on a ski jacket for everyone in the family, we go to Slovenia and stick to mid-ability piste runs, we don't go to heli-skiing in Antarctica.

Same goes for horses. My Mum is a pensioner on a very limited income, but has two horses in her field as pets. You really don't have to be shockingly loaded to have a horse, I remember my council estate cousin having one in cheap stabling facilities near the M25 when we were kids. Again, it's not the cheapest pet or hobby in the world, but that doesn't mean you have to pursue it with the most expensive equipment or clothing.

It's the best way to keep the Irish Middle-Classes out.

I'm Irish middle class , and I live in Aldi/Lidl all the time, so not working for me. The horsey stuff is supposed to be good value but I don't have a horse ( middle class etc !).

Not food, and hope no one is eating. But can I turn the topic to Aldi loo paper smile

I grabbed the second highest priced one when there, was a brown packet. What I didn't realise was that it is fragranced, and rather strongly too. So now the bathroom smells like a glade plugin.

Not had fragranced paper before, as we normally avoid additional chemicals, but it is a nice addition.

I tried the 4-ply Aldi loo paper at £1.59 for a 4 pack. It's OK, but wouldn't buy again. Far prefer Cushelle, but Lidl don't seem to be stocking that at the moment.

Back to food, if you like fruity Muesli the more expensive Lidl one is brilliant and full of fruit.

Shea butter, the ring piece will welcome it after a hot curry smile

I got a cheap Aldi one and you end up with your back drenched in sweat, I was very surprised!

Farmfoods sell an 18 pack of 3-ply for £3.99. It's also fragranced...

Not a problem for me. Skiing to me is merely a lightly controlled way of falling off a mountain whilst taking in some pretty scenery, I really don't put enough effort in to build up much of a sweat!

There's one thing that currently brasses me off about Lidl, they're currently selling snow chains, fair enough the ski gear is on sale, but completely fail to have that stonking screen washer additive, not the awful ready diluted stuff but the kosher -70°C concentrated stuff.

I bought an air fryer for £30 in Aldi yesterday to replace my £240 Philips one which lasted 13 months. So far it seems good, 3 year guarantee as well.

The MIL got a ski jacket for my youngest, I was surprised how good it was for the price.

After further use tonight, it's back in its box to be returned tomorrow. Not a recommended buy.

Why so, IMHO Air fryers are not any good per se.

Had this with couscous. Mistake I made was doing it in an open dish in the oven, sauce dried out a bit, will do it in a covered dish next time.

Added to my shopping list. Good call!
Was disappointed that I couldn't find this in my local Aldi frown
