Had this with couscous. Mistake I made was doing it in an open dish in the oven, sauce dried out a bit, will do it in a covered dish next time.

Added to my shopping list. Good call!
Was disappointed that I couldn't find this in my local Aldi frown
I had a look too but didn't have any luck

Aldi's 4x crispy cod frozen... forget it! Was a bit of a
Chance because thier green bagged frozen chips are excellent and I wanted something to go with them. Bad idea.

Yes I've tried the cheap cod / haddock, not much to recommend them. The extra special ones are ok though.

Yesterday my Aldi was completely out of tomatoes, not even a single one in the store - was there a rush on them, are they linked to valentines??

On the plus side, business umbrellas reduced from £8.99 to £2.99 and a projection alarm clock thingymabob down to £6.99.

Nothing in my local Aldi this weekend. Tried another supermarket and the same bare shelves but signs apologising for shortage due to the floods in Spain.

We had some frozen fish this week.

It was tough as old boots.

The problem was that the instructions said to "cook from frozen", and my wife reads the instructions.

I've cooked the same fish in the past, and it has been surprisingly good.

Bought a pack of cherry tomatoes yesterday. Blue and mouldy today.

Out of season fruit and veg is definitely not their thing.

Same here. O/H went to Aldi with a shopping list this morning and returned with everything including lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes.

Just out of interest, and if you're not using it immediately, please report back on how it keeps?

I bought ALDI on the vine tomatoes recently, they had black patches on them 2 days before the expiry date. I don't keep them in the fridge, however, the location in my kitchen is quite cool, and does not affect Tesco on the vine tomatoes like this.

To the folk striking out on the Morrocan Lamb, ALDI are particularly bad for trying new ranges, which appear to fly off the shelves and then you never see them again. They also have some odd seasonal things; I stock up on their spicy beetroot over the festive period, as it has been and gone by end of Jan.

no real issues with it not keeping but we do have a great fridge everything keeps for ages in it, just used salad toms bought over a week ago admittedly for soup but nothing wrong when I cut them up and the large mild onion I used was 10 days old too!
What I don't understand is why the growing herbs wont grow?

Your fridge is too cold. Try a Greenhouse.

My O/H is a former Environmental Health Officer who used to inspect food premises, she wouldn't shop there if she wasn't completely happy with what she was buying. It'll all be used before the end of the week, either in cooking or in lunch sandwiches - nothing has a chance to go off here.

I've found the veg in both Lidl and Aldi to be of variable quality.

You have to look very closely at what you are buying.

As somebody else has said, I've had tomatos go mouldy after just one day.

However, the veg that we bought at Aldi this weekend were superb.

I worked for Lidl over 15 years ago. I know how the dating works by week. I wasn't questioning it's quality (or that of Aldi) just curious about the veg that's on sale this week and last due to current supplier problems etc.
