This isn't Aldi, but it's in an even cheaper vein.

Home Bargains sell a range of 'Indi Grand' curry sauces in pouches for 59p.

The Saag goes brilliantly with chippychips, and the Vindaloo, sexed-up a bit with some cheater's garlic and a few more chillis, is bloody good. 59p!

Fill yer boots.

I am in Spain , so not sure if UK Lidl are selling the same stuff. They seem to be judging by what people are posting on here, anyhow just bought some reduced priced French cheese I had never heard of and it is delicious.
It is called Brillant Savarin and a quick Google tells me that it is very famous and very well respected.

Very soft and very creamy, it is in a bamboo round box wrapped in film

Ive been suing these for years, the tandoori has a good kick to it, and is actually really low calorie

As mentioned on the pork pie thread the "Specially Selected" Melton Mowbray Pork Pie is pretty good. Certainly better than those I've had from Sainsburys etc.
Tried one this evening. Excellent.
Tried one today, based on your recommendations.

Lack of seasoning and poor, stodgy pastry.

I am disappoint.

Just posted on the pork pie thread. For me little bit too much seasoning for me, only a touch though. Pastry not stodgy, though prefer a little crisper.

Personally Melton Mowbray pies aren't my favourites, but these were better than the average supermarket MM pies. Good job all different.

Looked at one of these when in Aldi airliner, put it back once I read it was around 300cals for a quarter of one, it only looked big enough for one to me hehe

Has anyone else noticed a downturn in the quality of the fruit and veg from there lately? I know there have been some issues with stuff from Southern Europe, but we've had a load of stuff that has only lasted a matter of days.

Bought carrots on Sunday, used a few then and then after leaving them in a dark cupboard until today (Wednesday) now find that they are mouldy.

I always found Lidl veg to be better than anywhere else. Don't know if that is still true.

Aldi Iceberg lettuce have been rubbish for weeks - even when they dropped the price. They look like they have been picked way to early.

Also the bananas are not ripe - although that's probably my fault as I tend to shop in the evening when the ripe ones have already gone.

Thumbs up from here for Aldi herb wraps and also fake jaffa cakes. Their McCoys rip offs are also very tasty but they just don't quite have enough crunch to them, not enough difference to worry about though.

Well worth the money.

Aldi's lattice crisps are pretty scoffable. Esp the salt & vinegar smile

We buy Aldi's British Romaine lettuce, variety 'Scala'. Last evening's purchase was grown by M Hammond in Norfolk and tasted O.K. There were lots of bananas too, both ripe and green. This was about 6pm so perhaps it depends on the branch.

Southern Europe has had a lousy winter. The quality of everything out ofbthere has been poor for months, and wholesale prices high. The Spanish growers have had a he'll of a time. Don't worry though, post brexit we will be able to negotiate our own weather and grow our own perfect vegetables between November and April.

I suspect they are the same crisp - when McCoys changed the names of their meat flavours, so did Aldi!

Another fan here of the Jaffa Cakes. 89p for 24 is great value. Malted Wheaties (Shreddies) cereal seems pretty good according to the kids.

The Aldi alternative Shreddies are brilliant. Better than proper Shreddies.

See also - the Aldi Bran Flakes and Sugar Puffs

Definitely don't see also - Cornflakes.

Their Honey Nut Flakes are very good too.

Re. fruit yields; a friend in northern France reports mega-sized local strawberries on sale, full of flavor too so perhaps the dry then wet weather has some upsides, foodwise.

Bitesize shredded wheat are ace. I'd put money on them being the real thing.
