Thanks for that, I've had a couple of horrors from Ldl which has frightened me off further explorations. I'l give the Chablis and the SB a go. Currently I get most of my wine from either Majestic or Naked Wine. Majestic are currently offering Latour's Macon-Lugny for £8.99. Not found anything yet to beat it at the price.
How do you find Naked Wine. I have a few hundred invested with them but have never ordered, and their emails are quite comical.
It's been a bit hit and miss but no real howlers, more hits than misses really. We had a bottle of Richard's Chenin Blanc last. Compares very favourably to Ken Forrester's CB, but not quite up to KF's FMC. But then the FMC is is twenty way plus a bottle and Richard's isn't. The percentage of those who would buy again is a fairish guide but not absolutely reliable. Give it a go.

Oh, and if you time you offer right (first Tuesday of the month iirc), you get a "free bottle".

ETA: I don't read their emails very often biggrin

Another trip yesterday, this time to a different branch. Slumming it with an Audi A7 and a 997GT3 in the car park.

Thought I'd try the wine this week. Perfectly acceptable Cotes du Rhone, £3.79. Too good for a stew!

May try the £4.99 Bordeaux next week. There were some reds at £9.99 but I may do some homework before splashing out on these!

Does anybody have any recommendations on the red?
My local Aldi had a wine testing session last sunday from 12.30 to 16.30, had an expert there to discuss the wines .

I didn't go (forgot) so haven't any recommendations ,sorry. drink

Aldi's fresh Tomato and basil soup, just enough of a taste of basil to cut throught the tomato, very nice. About 89p for a 600ml pot.

Or do what I do - which is an Aldi then a Waitrose ( for the coffee and Telegraph) biggrin
I do that. Waitrose and Aldi are right next door, I shop every Saturday. I get my cheese in Waitrose and reduced items if there is anything worth having then pick up my Telegraph which lasts me all week and get a cheeky Latte in the way out.

Happy Days. biggrin

Where and how much?

Plus you do hopefully realise that we can see you in the bottle reflection wearing stockings and high heels?

Aldi Aberdeen at £8.99 a bottle. Very nice, and plenty of flavour. Leagues ahead of supermarket stuff around the same price!

Afraid that is just my hands and head being distorted in the reflection laugh

Don't have an ALDI near me but a Lidl. Does anyone know if their bourbons are any good?

The black label Western Gold stuff is nice, I was very impressed and have been back to buy more. Can't comment on the regular white label stuff though, but I would be interested to hear what other think smile

I had a couple of glasses of this with my father last night; very pleasant indeed, I even decanted it.

From Lidl. 'Tenery' cheese singles with emmental.

Not particularly cheap at £1.49 for 12, but feck me, they're delicious. Really creamy.

I mentioned them about a week ago on here, they are delicious but have been off the shelves for a few years.

Currently eating Carrot and Coriander soup - "fresh" in a plastic microwaveable pot thing as opposed to tinned - 89p from Aldi and rather nice. Quick and easy lunch for work and these cost 2-3x as much in Tesco/Sainsburys.
