It's probably old news but Aldi now take credit cards - cashback!

Pretty sure the cashback from Tony was a Partridgism.

I've just had some of Lidl's Scottish cooked mussels in garlic butter sauce, on offer at £1.59 per 450g pack, usually £1.99.
I thought they were very good smile only slight issue I had was finding a pan big enough to 'boil in the bag'. I used a wok smile No matter as you can take them out of the bag to microwave them or put in a covered saucepan to heat up.

I hate the fact they don't de-beard them all, so I end up checking each one... something thats not an issue when I make the dish from scratch as I always do it as part of cleaning process.

Still lovely though.

OH pays with card and pretty certain it was credit card and they asked if she wanted cashback... they might have screwed up as we never get it anyway.

Yup Lidl have just recently, about 2/3 weeks ago, started accepting CC's.

Agreed, the "random tat" range of hiking gear has been with me up the tallest peaks in the UK where other people's branded stuff has failed.
I bought a backpack for £8.99 this year and it's really good quality, very comfy to wear too.

Anyone tried the Aldi champagne I'm seeing advertised on tv?

I've tried the Lidl champagne and it tastes like - guess what - cheap champagne.

I've drunk worse for the money, but £13 gets you a very good cava or Bouvet.

I'm guessing the Lidl lobster at £5.99 ain't going to be great?
Though I'm tempted to pick up some of their other stuff...

Quite small but tasted nice and sweet. I have bought frozen lobster before which were very salty and rank. I did lobster subs on Saturday with a bit of spicy mayo, avocado and iceberg lettuce.
I have the frozen beef rib in the oven just now and will try and report back with pictures.

Wandered in to the local Lidl for the first time today to pick up some cleaning stuff. Noticed they had 2 litres of Westons Scrumpy Cider for £3.99, in a rather lovely glass bottle. Being Westons it should be decent but potent stuff...

Anyone tried it? Tempted to go back and get one!

it's not too bad, make sure you defrost it somewhere where the water can drain out. Worth the money. That said, I think the Aldi lobster tails are a wee bit sweeter.

Got the frozen beef rib with roquefort and red wine sauce while getting bacon this morning. Stuck it in the plate warmer on low to defrost then cooked it tonight. I heated up the sauce which comes in a separate packet it just seemed a bit shop bought and chemically tasting so drained most of the fat and made a red wine gravy. It was really nice and made a change from chicken, pork or lamb.
