Think the Leg of Serrano Ham is on offer tomorrow (if the staff haven't had it first)
I picked one of these up in Aldi on Ponteland Road in Newcastle last night. There was a big pile of them but I saw a few folk buying so they may run out quickly.

There a great chinese restaurant in Edinburgh called Chop Chop (it was featured on one of Gordon Ramsay's tv shows) and the owner told me that Aldi would be selling his range of Dim Sum soon. Has anyone tried or seen it there yet?

Innis & Gunn specials in at the moment, treacle, rum porters etc, something like £1.40 a bottle.

No Serrano Hams in my local Aldi (no surprise there) but got loads of continental meats and cheeses yesterday and they little festive cup cakes are just yummy

I made my first trip to Aldi this morning.

I'm currently sipping their "Old Hopking premium white rum".

It is rather good. It has more body and flavour than Bacardi. I usually drink Sainsbury's white rum, which I find indistinguishable from Bacardi.

From now on I will use "Old Hopking".

We also bought their "6 Outdoor bred speciality sausages". I had a sausage sandwich for lunch. TBH, it was a bit disappointing. I cannot fault the quality. However, the sausages were not seasoned correctly. I tried adding some white pepper, but that didn't fix the problem.

We also got some orange juice, which was excellent.

At the cheaper end of the scale, I can't get enough of the prawn cocktail crisps from their variety pack (not purchased by me, I have to add). So wrong, but so right.

This Christmas, you can buy luxuries such as lobster, caviar and fine wines from the discount supermarkets. But can they compete on taste as well as price? Here are five festive steals and five false economies
1,000 posts on this thread as well - the only really one I have started on this car forum is on discounter supermarket food. Oh well!

I made my first ever batch of mince pies earlier, and the highlight was Aldi's "Brandy Infused Mincemeat".

Bloody delicious!

We had one of their Speciality Madras Curry Sauces tonight and I was surprised at how good it was.

Also quite a fan of their frozen salmon fillets. Also had their fresh cod this week as well and it worked out at about 50% of the cost of cod we used to buy from Waitrose.

Their 4 bird roast was as usual was really good as it has been for a good few years. We used to buy a Turkey stuffed crown from M and S but one year it tasted vile and ever since have gone to Aldi and been very happy.

What are Aldi's steaks like? They look like a decent thickness and about two thirds the price of other supermarkets for good looking ribeye.

Decent meat, or you get what you pay for?

They are very good, even the Rumps, found them to be far better than the big name Supermarkets.

I'm a big fan of the rib-eyes. For the price, they're unbeatable.

Another vote for Aldi and Lidl steaks here too! Better than any of the supermarkets including Waitrose .
Last night I tried a new recipe for Chicken thighs very tasty and they were only £2.85 a pack with 8 thighs and 4 drumsticks from Lidl .
Lidl Lamb was very good last time we tried it as loin chops too.
