Isaac Hunt said: Have a freebie on me. If you get a copy of the latest Tesco magazine (think it is called "Good Food") then on the first page inside, you will find a voucher for 70% off one knife. ie - equivalent to five vouchers. I might have just picked up a few copies As long as I only use one magazine voucher at a time, can't see what the problem is. I was in Tescos earlier and went to pick some copies of the freebie magazine - went all through it in the car park and couldn't find the voucher. I picked up Tesco magazine for real living March/April - just realised that it wasn't the same as the one you mentioned.

Ha ha!! Just went on Google to check out reviews of these knives before I go and get some, and lo and behold, PH is top of the list!!!
So how are they after a month or two of use? I can't tell from the tesco site how big they are, for example, how big is the large Santoku?

i got a set with my discount too. a bargain lovely weight keep a nice edge well and do the job they are asked to do in fine style. ive got a couple of global knives but to be honest im liking these more at the moment. a steal even if paying full price really. mine have seen some abuse over the last few weeks and have held up in a great style. well worth getting imho.

Agree with both, the vegetable knife is like using the end of your own finger it is so controllable, I sliced a vanilla pod in half the other day right to the tip which curled right back on itself, I've got no other knife that I could steer like that!

Steel before use and the two I bought hold a seriously nice edge O_o
Seriously thinking about a few more as the knives I had been using feel rubbish now.

Picked up the big and small knife and the small santoku. Great knifes - small santoku is stupidly sharp.

These knives are stupidly sharp - cut through a whole chicken, bone 'n' all, last night with barely any pressure! Top work Tesco!
Although I would imagine that they're probably end of line and will be available for all and sundry at this price after 20th May, but who cares?!

I'd echo the comments about these being more than 'good enough'. I've a Global set that is much heavier, not as well balanced and these are just as sharp when new.
I'd like to see how they fare in 18 months time though. For the price though you can't go wrong. The steel could do with being a little longer I guess.
One thing that is annoying me though is that the knife block (not the steak knife one) has never really been in stock in my local stores, meaning I've got 4 knives sitting around in a drawer; not good. Hope they come back in stock before the 20th...
For those wondering about the price after promotion, if it is anything like the previous Thomas pan offer (another excellent deal) then yes, these will be on the shelf at 'full' price, presumably allowing them to repeat the promotion next year.

Hope they come back in stock before the 20th... There was piles and piles of these at my local one (Southampton). I'm not sure if they do store-to-store transfers or something, but there was literally hundreds of them so might be worth asking if you're in Tesco at some point?

I didn't think blocks were that good an idea - isn't it usually recommended that knives are stored in a 'material canvas type knife wrap' ( not sure what the technical term for it is called).
