Snowboy said: Also, not having a hangover every Saturday for your entire teenage years probably does wonders for the complexion. Thursday night is the Jewish Friday night. I've got a new scheme with a Jewish client - early Friday morning meetings are verboten.

Jewish families tend to have complex layer of social standings and arranged introductions. So, in short, the kids of rich families get introduced to the kids of other rich families. Sometimes, a rich kid will be introduced to a not-as-rich kid if she’s particularly cute in the hope that the kids will get the mothers looks. Several generations of this lead to some very pretty girls in wealthy families.
Also, not having a hangover every Saturday for your entire teenage years probably does wonders for the complexion. Pity some turn into the hideous creation of......the Jewish Princesses though.

This is sounding far too sensible. Fraser, do you need me to round up some of the gang to help out our friend in need? I promise we'll behave.

kiwifraser said: As advised... Flowers and Kosher Chocolates purchased for the hosts, and Kosher sweets for the 2 grandkids They are going to have a problem accepting the flowers if you're going to be arriving after sundown because orthodox Jews cannot put flowers in water after sundown on Friday. They also will have a problem even handling the flowers themselves because of the doctrine of 'muktzeh' which is a complicated issue. My suggestion, therefore, (if you have to take the flowers), is to offer to put the flowers in the vase and water for them. Depending on how knowledgeable and orthodox they are, they will have an issue with accepting gifts after sundown (also due to the muktzeh principle). So don't be surprised or offended if they don't want to open the chocolates after the meal. Otherwise, they're very nice and appropriate gifts, and all kosher! Here's authority that the mints are kosher: http://www.theus.org.uk/jewish_living/keeping_kosh... Just type Bendicks into the search bar
