So third time lucky. biggrin

The Term Burger

Be it what you will has become illogical, even incorrect, but like many similar words it does its job well and has therefore become a proper word. It can be used as an add-on or suffix after a range of other words to describe any slab or cake of processed meat usually sold in a bread bun - beef, chicken, turkey or lamb. If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, some places apparently sell crocodile, kangaroo or ostrich burgers. A cheeseburger, however, is not a slab of cheese in a bun; it is a regular burger covered with cheese. The equivalent is true of chilli burgers and curry burgers. If you don't eat meat you can have a bean burger, a mushroom burger or a veggie burger, sometimes also called a vegetarian burger - though they are not actually made from vegetarians!

Cooking methods are to in include BBQ, Frying pan, Oven, Grill, House fire or Lighter any of which you think will be most successful.

The moral of the exercise is to create your own burger concept and perhaps brake away from the norm and be adventures.

The thread will be open to entries until Monday 9th July giving 2 full weeks and a chance to dodge the weather.

Maximum of 3 pictures which 1 must include the final dish.

Over to you guys.

Enjoy.

Hmmm, no promises, but at the first sign of a decent spot of weather, I'll fire up the BBQ and enter! To give you an idea, I'm contemplating using meat glue if I can get hold of some biggrin

You seen the price of meat glue!?!

Looked into it myself but can't think of enough uses to justify £80-90 on the stuff.

Ok let's get this compo kicked off.

Lamb, Mint & Chili Cheeseburgers.

Contents (from top to bottom) :
Toasted bun (top half)
Ketchup, mustard, tomato, red onion
Avocado slices
Cheese slice #1
Homemade Lamb & Mint burger #2
Sweet chilli sauce
Cheese slice #2
Homemade Lamb & Mint burger #2
Cheese slice #3
Iceberg lettuce
Mayonnaise
Toasted bun (bottom half)

Ingredients (there are also the bread rolls which I forgot to include in the pic...) :

Burgers made (chopped fresh mint and lean British organic lamb mince, salt, pepper)

And the finished product. (That's not grease on the plate, it's some of the chili sauce which was more watery than I expected!)

Was very nice, not too spicy. The combo of the mint and lamb was just right. I originally planned to chop up some chillies and put them in the burger so that it had a real kick... but I had run out of chillies. The avocado really added something special though. Next time I think I might add crispy bacon as well!

2oz of cheese, wrapped in 8oz of beef wrapped in 5oz of streaky bacon (7 slices)

Meet megaburger. 15oz of pure joy.

Sat with his little brothers (homemade 1/4 lb'ers with red onion) ready to be BBQ'd.

25mins on the BBQ and here he is. No salad to ruin him - just megaburger, a crusty roll & some ketchup.

(p.s this was actually a couple weeks back, I'll go again for this challenge and go bigger!)
