Fancy running me a portion down to Matlock. Oh and a can of dandelion and burdock.

One of the worse things about living in the middle of the country. Crap fish and chips £6 for a "large" fish. Anyone who has ever had fish and chips by the sea knows what large is...

Iirc it was almost £10 from Harry Ramsden's in Eastbourne - just over half that in Pevensey, which is about the same as at home, mid Kent. Standard size.

It's a shame the chippies only cook to order these days. Without a few minutes to drain, the fish is often put on top of the chips, with predictable results.

There are many challenges in this life but none so soul-destroying as attempting to eat a battered fish with a three inch wooden fork. From a polystyrene tray. In a hurricane.

Fish and chips is very difficult to get in central London.

I like this place Sea Shell, Lisson Grove

Eat in cod and chips is £15.95

Takeaway large haddock, chips and soft drink is £9.00 (same price as a salad and sparkling water near my office in the city)

At my local fish and chip shop, The Wetherby Whaler in West Yorkshire, it is £5.40 for haddock and chips.

Alexanders next to Finsbury Square is a pretty traditional F&C place, good food, but similar prices to above though.

I usually pay about £6.00-6.50 for small cod small chips, (which isn't that small) from the chippies at home in Berks.

Around £5.50 ish from my decent local - couple of other local ones are cheaper but not worth saving a quid for something you cant really enjoy.

I am more rag pudding and chips kind of bloke though.

The fish and chips ^ looks good but where are the tennis ball sized pickled onions which only exist in the chip shop universe?

Circa £4.50 from Doncaster Market. The best I've had in years.
