Yep, Whitby today but wrong timing for fish and chips . Eyed up trenchers for a return night time visit . Whitby as a Place was absolutely heaving , my first visit so did not know what to expect .

On a motor theme , passed an rs meet at the falcon pub and the centre of Whitby was taken over by bikers .

know where you mean and they are much better than the magpie. if anyone finds themselves in pudsey west yorks, Graveleys on robin lane is amazing.
fish n chips with scraps and a carton of peas / curry is just short of a fiver and big portions too.

Paid something silly like £11.90 for a "Harper's Special" from their Staxton branch. Can't say I was terribly impressed, batter was soggy and chips were anemic.
Best fish and chips I've had recently was at the Bluebell Inn in Lound, large portion of fish and really good chips for a tenner or so.

Keep meaning to try Sea Fish nearby but not got round to it yet.

The secret of fish n chips in whitby is go where us locals go >>>>>Silver street, railway chippy back of the hospital, and riverside fisheries east side next to where they build boats.

Aren't they the ones that give "market price" on their menu but have been shamed by local fishermen who insist the actual market prices are usually a 1/4 of what they quote?

We went to Quayside on our last visit a month ago, overpriced, small portions and poor quality in comparison to my local chippy here in Leeds. I used to always go to the Quarter Deck but fancied a change, in future I think I'll just go to Abbey Wharf or one of the other bistro type places.

Silver St is my favourite.
I hope you don't catch them on an off night.

Im a bad person, got drawn in by trenchers with the family in toe and the promise of a quick seat in the sun over the road and it's right by where we parked. Food wise , maybe an 8 out of 10 . The highlight being their own tartare sauce that was delicious. Fish wise it still seemed to be a little cotton woolly, maybe a little overlooked as I would be amazed if it was frozen . So difficult to get a perfect fish it seems.

Felt guilty and then scoped out silver street for perhaps a return visit, crikey you wouldn't come across that place by accident !..... It's the smallest of side streets , but he place looks very smart. Maybe I'll return.

how about this for a quid ? near birmingham.
Just to let you know if that was a quid it definitely isn't cod. What you have there is a fillet of pangasius. Which is from the catfish family.

Went to a place a couple months back in a small village in Lincolnshire.

4x fish and chips was £14! Staggeringly cheap.
