Do chippys usually charge for 'scraps'?

Never asked for them, I might do next time. I'm tempted with takeaway for tea tonight and this thread is making me want fish and chips, but I can't think of any around here that are open on a Sunday (except George's, but I've heard they're not great...)
Scraps are free, my local will give you a large bag of them if your heart desires such things - they fill up a sack of them at the end of the night and give them to a local farmer to feed pigs with IIRC.

It's been a long time since I had a "super scrap" with fish in though.

I've just had a lunch time small fish, chips and sausage with curry sauce for £3.20 in South Yorkshire.

Not the greatest. But quite cheap.

£8.90 for a large cod, regular cod, and a large chips(enough for 2) last Friday.

It would have cost 10-20% more in Letchworth, our nearest town.

I pay about £15 for grilled haddock, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce

London innit but it's good quality IMHO and local

http://www.thefishclub.com

Cheaper can be had for sure but it's still £10 for fish and chips and peas
Don't know what you mean by local as the clapham one has gone bust or closed down for good, that was Dec/Jan the last time I walked past and on the website I can't find any details of any shops that they have anymore?
St Johns Hill in Battersea

also had it delivered by Deliveroo a couple of times

very good quality, and they make their own tartare and curry sauces

Not my local but we were in Whitby yesterday so had fish and chips at one on the restaurants there. A medium haddock and chips was £11.95 with mushy peas an extra £1.50. Not the cheapest I am sure but very nice, the takeaway would have been a bit cheaper option.

The mobile fish and chip van which visits the village I live in charges about £6 for haddock and chips.

Assuming chips at £1.50-£2.00, they would charge me £7.50 - £8.00 for a regular cod ?
Are you serious ?
Where is this ?

Don't be silly, I hail from Nottingham originally and mushy peas and mint sauce is a meal all on it's own, with stalls on markets and Goose Fair selling this delicacy and nothing else.

I do get some strange looks from people where I now live but the odd one says oh you must be from Nottingham.

Paid about £17 for a portion of large Rock/Huss, 2 regular chips and a vegetable spring roll in Beer a couple of days ago. Chippy in question is a cut above most others in about a 20 mile radius of where I live, always has the more interesting things like Skate, Rock etc, the chips are great. However, as the other chap from Devon above mentioned the going rate is between £6.80 and £15 for a Cod & Chips round these parts. One thing I've noticed is the price of a portion of chips has gone up more than the fish itself! These days a standard portion of chips seems to be £3-4.
