£7+ for a large cod and chips. Not cheap but its within sight of the boat that landed the fish as the guy that owns the trawler owns the shop as well.

The 2 near me are £5.90 (£4 + £1.90) and £6.50 (£4.60 + £1.90) for medium cod and chips, the more expensive one is night and day better.

Hanburys in Torquay is the chippy I visit the most.

Not that cheap, but it's won loads of awards, gets fish from just round the corner in Brixham and, on a nice day, you can go and eat it on Babbacombe Downs looking over the sea.

If any of you are ever in South Devon I can't recommend it enough.

BTW - they call bits of batter 'scribbles' down here. Confusing for a Sheffielder (where we call them scraps).

Silver Street Fisheries? Is my favourite.
Nicest Haddock and chips I've ever eaten.

Very disappointed frown I've no idea how it scores so highly on Tripadvisor. All i can think of is that londoners have no idea about tasty F&C.

It was flipping £12 as well frownfrownfrown

Maybe a South Devon thing? Definitely 'gribbles' in my local chippy in Exeter.
