Perhaps some of the greatest dinners I've ever had have been made by mixing random ingredients from the cupboard and fridge, and I was just wondering, what have PH done by grabbing whatever is at hand?
After playing some CoD the other night, while a bit drunk, I made what I call the MOAB; Mother Of All Burgers. Got some pork, mixed it with some apples, and put some chopped up hot dogs on top, then a lashing of ketchup. I wish I'd taken a photo.
Another thing I did, again while slightly drunk, was a lasagne, with the Red Pepper and Spiniata Sausage Gordon Ramsay sauce, and some slices of salami and pepperoni which otherwise would have gone out of date and in the bin. Then grated some Mexicana cheese (spicy stuff) on the top, and somehow it was pretty epic.
So, what has PH done, while short on ingredients, or in that mood where you're a bit drunk and decide you're going to be the next Gordon Ramsay?

I got home from the pub one evening, many many moons ago whilst a student, and rifling through the cupboards found quite a poor selection. There was only one real option:
A couple of Oxo cubes with a garlick clove for flavour. And a glass of milk.
Do I win?

I'm not sure the Findus crispy pancake sandwich has been surpassed. I suppose one serious meal which I think I came up with myself and now eat regularly is my own take on the 'Tuna Napolitana' packet mix pasta dish comme ca: It was a student staple meal and I realised that the packet is just powdered tomato with a few Italian flavourings, seasoning and a thickening agent. So I had a go at recreating it without the packet. Having learned how to make a fish veloute (basically a white sauce made with fish stock instead of milk), I added some reduced home made tomato sauce (tomato paste/puree would work too) and a tin of tuna with some thyme/oregano. Boil it down a bit and add to just cooked pasta. The veloute gives it a creamy, subtle seafood edge. Tastes really nice with some fresh basil, squeeze of lemon, some parmesan and lots of black pepper -but it costs pennies.
