I enjoy loads of different types of beer and have never been afraid to try anything new but my tipple of choice has always been lager. I'm quite bored by the standard brands in my local but a few places in Liverpool have some really good choices with estrella damm being one of the best IMO and then there is always Peroni What are your favourites? ETA this doesn't have to be off the pump from a pub, just on sale in the UK.

You've just mentioned the top 2 I was going to suggest. My local serves both £4.30 a pint though.. Real men drink real ale (from a jug). Stella Black is very nice. Bud draught is surprisingly good too (always on in our local too) edit: It's 8.23am and I'm thinking about beer. Must pop over to the health forum..

Is Estrella considered a good lager?
Funny how things travel, when I lived in Spain this was just a normal lager struggling to sell itself against all the other normal lagers. Completely unremarkable.
Peroni is fantastic lager.

Peroni is fantastic lager. Agree on the Estrella.. I think it's all in the mind. When I went to Lanzarote (around 3 years ago), it was possible to buy a pint of Estrella for €2. When it was happy hour (which it was quite often!!), it was 2 pints for €2!! It was touted as the 'local' beer and it wasn't anything remarkable at all imo.

Cruzcampo and Starpromen on tap.
Try Brooklyn Lager if you can find some, some Tescos have it in bottles.
Superbock again in bottles is also fantastic.

Sam Smiths Organic. No hangovers as no crap in it.
Brooklyn is nice but a little strong for my tastes.

Peroni is fantastic lager. I like Estrella Damm, I'm not so keen on some of the others like Lavente as to me they are just local beers, but I think Damm has travelled well and always enjoy a pint, it has strength

Heineken is my "go to" lager.
Peroni or Stella if Heineken isn't available.
I'm not a fan of the 4% stuff apart from Becks Vier.

I'm not a fan of the 4% stuff apart from Becks Vier. 4% isn't a proper drink IMO but yes if I had to Becks would be the one. I really cannot understand how people go into a pub for a few pints and order carling or carlsberg! Some of my friends do this.

Dear US, Wadeski said: Meantime is pretty good, and its from London. They do a splendid stout too. Anyway for a lager that actually tastes of something. The only one I drink (I'm normally a chewy ale supper) is Budweiser Budvar. The Czech one, not the weedy U.S. stuff. IIRC Budvar is rarely on draught but often discounted in bottles in supermarkets. I stock up then They do a splendid dark too. When I was a lad I also preferred lager. In the '70s the best draught was Carslberg, regards, Jet

Oh my god. I would imagine those circumstances could make even terrible lager taste heavenly..

hate hate hate normal 'green' carlsberg, do like carlsberg export when on tap though. Tuborg is good also, only seem to find that in Wetherspoons however. I thought Estrella tasted of piss when I tried it, but it was in a s tty pub, so maybe it was a dodgy pint anyway. Perroni is overrated and costs about £4. Generally speaking we dont get a great choice of lagers where I am in the midlands, did try the sam smiths in London, that was lovely. Staropramen on tap is perhaps the nicest I have had ? I find myself drinking real ales much more these days, especially if the weather is not hot, as there ismore variety (obviously) and more taste. usually cheaper than premier lagers which is a bonus. edited to add, my favourite from a bottle is Super Bock, love that stuff. Only bought it first time because it had a silly name and I wanted a label from it

Bitburger. In bottles from supermarkets and on draught in some pubs.
The finest lager/pilsener beer, evah!
