I am a Guinness or real ale drinker preferring darker stronger ales.
I only drink one lager which I love too bits ~ Red Stripe!
I prefer Red Stripe in bottles ~ the stronger export if ever I can find it.
My wife always makes sure we have chilled Stripey in the fridge and several of my friends have become dedicated to the mighty Stripe also.
Someday that subtle taste will track you down!
I had a couple of red stripe bottles last night, hadn't had any for years, very nice as well!I only drink one lager which I love too bits ~ Red Stripe!

Nothing wrong with Scottish ales at all.
I love them, with their punchy maltiness and light hopping. They're a rare treat South of the border
Back on topic, a lager I loved (until our local stopped selling it) was Budweiser Budvar Black. On draught, it was - coincidentally - much like a Scots Ale: not too hoppy, but very dark with heavy malt overtones. Bloody lovely.

Another vote for Peroni Gran Reserva here, is it cheating as it's called a beer? What is the difference? Is it strength?
I notice they do a Peroni Red too, kind of in between the other two.
Gold Label too for me please, confusingly neither lager or beer, but 'Barley wine'. Marketing ploy no doubt....

Becks is my "go to" lager.
LHD - Tennents is absolute pish watter! Honestly, it's constant source of bafflement to me that Tennents is the overwhelmingly popular lager in what seems like every pub in Scotland, west coast particularly. Minging stuff.
I confess to thinking that the Estrella Damm I was drinking in Barcelona was much nicer than the stuff we get here, but I'm willing to concede that it's psychological.
Anyone tried Blue Moon? Quite like it, but it's not what I'd call a session drink.
Ichiban, Cobra & Tiger are notables too.
and just for clarity - Tennents

The best beer, by far, that I have ever tasted was this:
Estrella Inedit. Something like £6 for a 640ml bottle, which came in a cardboard box as if it were a single malt. But my God. A taste sensation.
Only found it once, in Tesco at Earl's Court. I can't even find it in Waitrose near me. Anyone else tried it?
