Currently enjoying Lidl's Perlenbacher Pils.

6 quid for 6 bottles. Bargain.
that's about €1.70 for 6 in Germany, plus deposit for the plastic bottles
That's UK-PLC taxation for you.

I cannot recommend William Brothers highly enough. I have nigh on lived on the stuff for quite a while now. All of them are good, but particularly:

Harvest Sun
Cock o the Walk
Midnight Sun
Birds and the Bees
Good Times

Honestly, they're all great and a decent selection can be got from both Tesco and Morrisons.

We bought some beer from Lidls while at the 'ring. Was about €2.10 for 6. Then we found out you get 25c back for each glass bottle. Meant every beer was around 10c. Boy, it tasted like it when they were warm hurl

More inspiration from this thread, I bought myself a 4 pack of EFES, chilled them and had a couple tonight. Very crisp and clean tasting. I've had it before but a while ago.

would have been at least 3.10, 25c deposit on each bottle plus 1.60 for the 'beer' - not even lidl is 10c cheap

Can't remember exact figures. Either way, it wasn't great.

I've had some too

served extremely cold, when you've already had half a skinful of decent beer at a barbie, it's acceptable biggrin

It's a hell of a lot better than the InBev cat's piss some posters seem to think is 'decent'.

I think lagers taste the as each other. Some may have a slightly higher dogs piss content and others will have more rat poison, the end result is normally something that tastes like crap. There are a few exceptions though, these are mainly imported beers so check the label to be sure that “InBev” and “Brewed under licence in the UK” aren’t printed on it. Try find ones brewed to the German purity laws or made by smaller breweries. It’s a shame that we have this problem as an ice cold lager on a hot day can be a very refreshing drink.

Personally I think that “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Bitter “ by the Oakleaf Brewery is a cracking lager. It has a nice sweet malt flavour with good balancing bitterness that not to overpowering.

Full Fat Becks for me, fairly rare on draft, but imported 500ml cans go down a treat at home. The contents of course, I don't eat the cans.

The main lager I buy for home consumption is Sam Adams Boston Lager. Love the stuff and it has happy memories.

Today I tried a bottle of Peroni Gran Reserva Doppio Malto - absolutely lovely stuff. okgo mentioned it in passing before but it deserves being singled out.

Wifebeater will always be Wifebeater, no matter what fancy tag they give it.

A beer made by the marketing nen will always be soulless/st because it is engineered not brewed.

Some good inspiration here, notes taken smile

Most recently my favourite has been Estrella Damm Inedit as a good "all rounder" but I generally swap around depending on the circumstances.

Have you tried it? Nicest beer I've ever had.
