Pan roasted Cornish Hake, fennel, calamari, beech mushrooms:

Pork fillet & cheek, fondant potato, smoked bacon choux croute:

Looks good, what does she use to stabilise her foam?

Last night's fillet steak; I was home alone and fancied steak. I didn't intend to buy fillet at first, but it wasn't that much more expensive than the sirloin. I've never actually cooked steak before so I followed some online instructions. It turned out just how I wanted it, but I think that was more luck than judgement if I'm honest. smile

I did roasted vegetables to go with it, and once I'd taken the steak out to let it rest (lets the juices distribute, or something) I stuck some chopped onions in the pan with some butter and a glass of wine with the intention of making a sauce to put on the steak. I think I did it for a bit too long though, as nearly all the liquid ended up evaporating frown The onions tasted great, though.

^^^ Looks pretty good for a first effort - a 'crust' on the outside but still colour in the middle! Good work.

For future reference - at this point pour in some beef stock, reduce it again, then pour in some single cream and stir through some peppercorns.

Your steak looks great. yum

Book me in!

I've got a bit of rump for later. I'm often disappointed with steak but will make the effort tonight and see what the results are.

That's the stuff.

By the time seconds was served it had sucked up all the liquid so it was a bit sticky. Tasted lovely though.
It also has some bacon in.

Try a funky dressing:

Juice of 1 lime
1 tbs fish sauce
1 tbs sugar
1/2 red chilli, finely chopped

Looks good, unfortunate for the rabbit - good for you. Love rabbit, had to convert the missus a few years back but she now orders it sometimes if it appears on our locals special board.
