turkey is rather st. Anyone doing a goose this year? If so, post!
I did turkey and rib of beef this year, the idea being that the turkey would satisfy the traditionalists and the beef would satisfy me.

I don't know whether it was the turkey or how it was cooked, but it was delicious. As in, to the point where I almost (almost!) didn't need the beef.

Surprising. And creates a mild dilemma for next year.

Christmas evening meal buffet

Lunch was chicken and guinea fowl for the roast.

We had as desert for the above apple pie with ice cream and double cream.

Very nice. Potato is one of the few things I miss about my regime. A rare treat, like burger buns.

ETA - no spuds, extra greens

(Rubbish phone pic, sorry!)

Picked up a couple of partridges, a ha. Wrapped inside the cabbage leaf is celeriac, carrot, bacon and shredded cabbage, and there's a parsnip mash under there somewhere.

Partridge was quite nice, only had the breasts as the rest was undercooked - not sure I can see how to get the legs etc. cooked without cremating the rest.

7 hour pork done in the slow cooker, in a "BBQ rub" I made up from smoked paprika, herbs, garlick and red wine vinegar.

It has it's perks - this was dessert:

biggrin

Today's dinner was a three in one dirty treat - I just cannot eat burgers without bread, processed cheese, and tomato ketchup:

Back on it tomorrow. Happy New Year all.

Did a curry night for New Years party! Went down a storm and got pretty much cleared by the masses!

Chicken Jalfriezi, lamb rogan josh, Ghurka chicken curry, chicken tikka and beef biriyani. Served with home made lamb samosas, home made lime pickle, coriander sauce and raita.

Had a go at making the lime pickle a week ago, and was quite surprised how easy it is!

Cooked for 4 hours and rested for 1, slightly overlooked for me, but cooked for guests, so it was spot on.
