Out of interest how much do they charge for a "box", the website says £8.99 intro? Is that for a box of four different meals for two people?

Cheers

Your first box is £1. You then have the option to subscribe to a box delivered each month @£8.99 (incl carriage) per month. All additional boxes are charged at the same rate.

The box contains 4 different dishes for 2 people. You have the option to choose what you want or let them decide.

We're having this one tonight..

I should link them to this thread and get some free boxes. wink

Having looked at the website a bit more, it's mostly quite simple dishes. It's quite a good idea for people who don't have the time/confidence to go from a blank slate. No different from the packet spice mixes or meal kits you get from the supermarket I suppose.

My cheeseburger chips & salad from a friends going away meal, in a lovely country pub. It was delicious.

For me that's too much crusty bread for a burger! I tend to like the american thing of steaming the bun so it's a less bread-intensive and dry dish... that said your burger doesn't look short of contents!!

Makes sense now. I was trying to work out how they could make money from it but I can see that they provide the seasonings and its up to you to provide the main ingredients.

I was looking at something a while back where they supplied everything chilled or frozen which was obviously a lot more money.

I thought the same when it arrived, but it was spot on. Meat from the local butchers too.

food is becoming over complicated and pretentious, food like this brings it back to normality, very nice.

It's getting colder, so I thought I would try the crock-pot out that Mrs Tickle bought... for me to use!.

Pulled pomegranate and anise pork with spiced cabbage.

Pork shoulder (approx 1.5kg)
3 crushed star anise
5 cloves
6 cloves of garlic (chopped)
1 onion (sliced thin)
2" of ginger (sliced)
1 chilli (de-seeded and chopped)
1 tea spoon of cayenne
1 tea spoon of ground cinnamon
1 glass of pomegranate juice
2 tea spoon of pomegranate molasses
2 tea spoons of honey
4 tea spoons of red wine vinegar
Salt / Pepper

All put in the slow cooker and left for 10 hours.

Pull the pork out and pull, set to one side.

Sieve the juices from the pot and reduce in a pan to a thick sauce.

Mix the pulled pork back into the syrupy sauce.

This makes quite a bit of pulled pork, I would say it will do at least dinner for 4.

Hope this helps thumbup

Thai Green Curry.

Nothing incredibly taxing. Bought a paste.

Mushrooms
Red Pepper
Green Beans

Chopped a chili and threw some coriander on top.

Tonight's dinner - rack of lamb.

Rather embarrassingly I've never actually cooked it before but it turned out pretty well.

45 min @ 110C then seared in cast iron pan.

Temperature out of the oven was a little over what I wanted (was aiming for 51.5C, ended up with 54C) but still pretty happy for my first attempt.

That's not bad for a first go. The amount of connective tissue in this cut lends itself to medium or medium rare. Rare just ends up too chewy for my taste.
