Thanks Matt. Had a mess about with some cookie cutters on the spuds, hence the different diameters. Pleased with them.

Also supprised at how cheap short ribs are.

Thank you.

I will be experimenting with beef ribs on the smoker when/if the weather picks up.

Had a large pack of mushrooms to use up, so... pork shoulder steak in a peppercorn sauce with just a couple of mushrooms on the side... wink

My take on a cubanos sandwich tonight. Tasted lovely but need to get a better method of cooking it to get the cheese to melt more. Inspired by the film "chef" from 2014

Roast pork slices with ham and swiss cheese topped with pickles and yellow mustard. Buttered the bread all over flattened as much but as possible whilst frying it

Indonesian roasted chicken thigh curry. From scratch.

It took me three hours which I didn't have plus a burn on my index finger and thumb but it's high up on my all time favourite curry list.

Previous two dishes look stonking!

Wish I had more time and was more adventurous with my cooking. Perhaps when i've graduated...

Thanks, assuming you were referring at least in part to me! They were from recipes and spice mixes from spicebox, all v easy and quick. Normally don't use things like that but it was a gift, and been pretty impressed so far.

There's curried salmon burgers and Bombay potatoes somewhere to go with that lot but I think I could scoff all 13 and be happy with my dinner!

Yum yum!

About 10 years back I took my wife out to Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester for a meal out. 3 Michelin stars all that sort of gumpf. So being her 50th she wanted something just as good.

I couldn't think of anything in London but I had promised her a weekend in Stockholm a few years back and never delivered biggrin

So.... kill two birds with on stone, meal in Stockholm.

So I picked Frantzen's

https://www.google.com/maps/@59.3232876,18.0694779...

Not quite the Dorchester with all that graffiti - the 2 Michelin stars are hidden in the kitchen. The menu

13 courses but there are 3 hidden extra courses, an amuse bouche at the start, a small french onion soup and a final apricot desert. So that makes 16. Over 3 hours.

As I mentioned it's a bit different to the Dorchester. This is very intimate, 30 people tops and some sit in front of the cooking area and get it served within 3 feet of it being cooked. To give an idea some live action

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA2ytpGJ6A4&fe...

Now my wife decided that I couldn't photograph all the courses as not something one does. She is not a big PH FDR person smile . However after 8 courses she finally relented so here are the later courses for meat and deserts. The lighting was very dim and I did not want to use flash of course unfortunately, so it's a bit dim.

Duck with duck liver and a date filled with caremlised lemon

Fallow deer with some mind bending plobs. The orange one was "carrot hot sauce" There was a strong jus as well to go with it.

Didn't manage to get the first chocolate pudding with the camera out in time as was one of those ones where a chocolae shell melts in a reverse volcano thingy when hot sauce is put over it but here is the final lemon pudding

or rather mandarin green tea and sea buckthorn lemon pudding.

At this point there were some chocolates sweets which I am not a great fan of, however I did make an exception

As I am allergic to nuts they replaced all the nut ones with others. For the meal where nuts were in place, rather than just not serve them they put in an alternative. That takes more work of course, so hats off.

The wine parings were fantastic as well.

So that's my wifes 50th.

I had my birthday one month before and went to the .... fanfare of trumpets... The local Beefeater....

confusedwhistleloser

She paid £60 all in, I paid; well you can guess.

She's worth it though.
