Apologies for the terrible photo but here's mine, won in an office raffle! It's around £50 retail apparently. Never really been a rum man, so can someone tell me how I should be drinking this please? Might tuck in this weekend!

Simple: neat accompanied by some dark chocolate. Enjoy!

When the rum takes hold, it can be a loopy and wild night. As a I found out after consuming over half a bottle of Sailor Jerry's, neat and warm at a VW show at the weekend.

Off the the shop tonight to re stock. Going to try something different as usually go with the Jerry's or Morgan spiced.

I'm off to Dominican Republic next week on my hols and looking forward to trying and bringing home some local bottles. There's a factory tour near by too, although I hope there's no 'hard sell' element to it as is often the way of these countries.

Not so clued up on Rums (more of a whisky man) so if anyone has any recommendations that be great!

We went to the Dominican Republic about 12 years ago when I was in my early 20's, didn't drink rum at the time but remember tipping the guy who brought our bags to the room $20 and him bringing us some belting cigars and a bottle of "Dominican Gasoline" which was the local 151 proof!

Currently working my way through a couple of bottles of Xacapa, Guatemalan Rum, one the normal 23 year old, the second an XO.

Both bought in of all places Bangladesh, cheap (relatively) and a splendid tipple, more akin to a very good Cognac.

I currently find myself rumless. This is something that needs to be rectified. Plenty of whisky though.

Rum trivia question: What rum did Sir Francis Drake stock his ships with?
Do tell!

I'm thinking of trying some rums. I'm a whisk(e)y man, but have a bottle of Kraken, and fancy expanding my drinking horizons.
None! It hadn't been invented in Drake's time. His ships were stocked with wine!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Admiral's Old J Spiced Rum, after being treated to a couple of shots at the Great British Tattoo Show at the weekend.

They also do a 151 Proof 'Tiki Fire' version which I also tried, incredibly smooth as easily neat drinkable considering the strength!

Lol.

Added these 2 this morning, the El Dorado to replace a bottle I just finished, on special on Amazon for £27 so couldn't resist. The Doorleys XO was also on special so thought I'd try it, Amazon prime has a lot to answer for.

Having recently got into whisky, time to expand my horizons. I like sweeter whisky, sherry cask etc - on that basis can anyone recommend a nice rum?

I would suggest Mount Gay XO. It's about £34/bottle if you shop around.
Lovely stuff.

Another one to consider, provided you really do like 'sweet' would be this one:-

Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva
https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/4475/diplomati...

similar price.
I like them both, but the DRE is definitely a lot sweeter.

Yep. A LOT sweeter. I have read in places that it's actually sweetened and I could believe that.
