Glad this thread has popped up again! My evening glug whilst losing money on internet poker is rum & coke, and my drug of choice is a bog standard Appleton Estate Special.
However, an offie nearby has started selling something called Gosling's Black Seal.
I'm intrigued and was wondering if anyone has tried it. The only dark rum I really like with coke is Wood's, although I will tolerate Lamb's.
TIA!
If this tells you anything - Black Seal is what got me into Rum. Lovely stuff, and the original rum for a dark n stormy. However, an offie nearby has started selling something called Gosling's Black Seal.

As everyone on PH is a high roller I spotted this and thought I'd give a heads up as it's the last one in stock:

We're going to Grenada for Christmas and we'll be going to one of their distilleries, hopefully the Rivers one as it's one of only two water powered cane mills left in the caribbean. I'll make sure to get some photos and taste plenty of rum. Some of the rums in Grenada are too strong to take out of the country so I'll have to practise my smugglign techniques.
No photos but my parents got me a bottle of Goslings black seal rum which is one of my favourites, well worth trying if you have anywhere locally selling it.

All you rummites should try Chamarel - a Mauritian rum that I've come to love since living here. You can now buy it in the UK or so I'm told by the guys at the factory.
Their premium gold is rather special - very smooth. It is made from fresh cane juice rather than molasses which really gives it a smooth "fresh" texture. I've yet to try their 4 year aged stuff but I'd imagine it is rather tasty.

I went there - well worth the visit but a lot more rustic than you may at first imagine. No photos but my parents got me a bottle of Goslings black seal rum which is one of my favourites, well worth trying if you have anywhere locally selling it.
The 75% over proof (strength defined by the colour) is quite interesting in a numb lip from sipping kind of way.
Honestly - get to Sainsbury's and see if they've got the Mount Gay XO. Imo it's by far and away *the* best rum at that price point.
Angostura's good, but the 1919 isn't their aged one so it's a bit more agricultural than the aged Mount Gay. (The Angostura 1824 aged rum is utterly gorgeous but over £50 a pop)

Don't know if this is of interest to anyone, currently on a lightning deal:

Im just getting into rum having just purchased a bottle of Sailor Jerry. Im currently drinking it with lemonade but can anyone recommend some other ideas for mixers please. I recall seeing Jamie Oliver on TV adding sugar, ice cubes and a dash of Angostura Bitters.
