Love this, about £22 from Tescos, never seems to last more than a couple of days though.

I picked up a bottle of Dark Matter from the recent Whisky Fringe in Edinburgh. It's from Scotland's one and only rum distillery. Absolutely blew my head off in terms of smell & taste - highly recommended if you like spiced rums...

Fantastic, need to get me a bottle of that. Just emailed them to find out stockists.

Been largely rumless for some months now (along with other stocks for some reason). Down to the reserves of a bottle of Pussers, and my wife got me a bottle of aged Germana cachaca for my b-day a couple of months back. That is outstandingly good - even nice enough to drink neat!

Rum trivia question: What rum did Sir Francis Drake stock his ships with?
Do tell!

I'm thinking of trying some rums. I'm a whisk(e)y man, but have a bottle of Kraken, and fancy expanding my drinking horizons.

At the moment happily making my way through a bottle of Cadenheads rum bottled myself from their ''living cask'' at the Campbeltown shop. A shame that its so far away to get another - I wonder if they bottle for you and post out ? Although they obviously have other bottlings more easily available.

Bought my friends some of this from Jamaica... Think it was about £2 a bottle, maybe a little more? On sale in the UK @ £13!

Grabbed a litre of Mount Gay Black Barrel while passing through Schiphol yesterday. Worked out about £27.

Minor issue with it though!..

The current collection. Favourites are probably the El Dorado 15 and the Diplomatico. The Don Papa was a mistake and bought based on the box and curiosity of it being Filipino. I like sweeter rums, but it's unbelievably sickly. The Pampero is a bit rough for the price. I much prefer the Flor de Cana 7 at the same sort of price. I also think it's the pick of the Flor de Cana range

I was at this tasting last night.

To be added to the collection from that are:
Plantation Trinidad
Doorly's im Etui
Foursquare Port Cask Finish

The port cask in particular was very different. I'd like to try the Zacapa Reserva Limitida again completely sober before buying a bottle. Highlight of the evening for me was the English Harbour 10, which I've had before and think is excellent. Not paying their prices for it though - I can get it for less than half the price they wanted. It's amazing how different it is to the 5 year old, which is rough as hell.

Interesting. English Harbour didn't do it for me at all, but it was the 5yo. I found it bland so I'll have to maybe try the 10.

Doorly's and Four Square are next on my list. The port finish sounds right up my street.

el dorado 15 (I think) and diplomatico reserve were two highlights from whisky festivals i have attended over the last few years (rum at a whisky fest yes) so i feel i may invest at some point! Bought the diplomatico for the boys in my wedding party this year.

I got a bottle of this. Nice, maybe a little too heavy on the cloves will make a nice winter rum.

Gosling's Black Seal was on offer last week at £20 in Waitrose. Wasn't intending to get any but it seemed rude not to! Stocking up for Christmas I suppose.

These arrived today.

The Zaya to put in the "spares" cupboard, as my GF is demolishing the bottle we already have and the English Harbour per my last post. I think the port finish Doorly's will be next on the list.

I normally drink my rums neat, but decided to try the Pampero Aniversario with some coke zero, as I think it's a bit harsh neat. It was nice as a one off, but way too sickly to have more than one of.

latest rum purchase for me was flor de cana 25. refined and smooth but not appreciably so over the 18. i'd try it in a bar before you plump for a full bottle as I personally don't think its worth the money. particularly as you can get 3 bottles of el dorado 15 for the same outlay which is, for me, everything that a premium rum should be.

My brother did this one - http://thefatrumpirate.com/old-amazon-no1-tonka-be... if anyone's given it a go.

I don't know what a big arse and being irate has to do with it though...

I went on the Flor de Cana tour in Nicaragua which was very impressive. Best of all we got to sample all of the rums.

I'd say 18 is the pick of the bunch and the 7 is pretty great too.

Anyone found a good source for it over here? We paid £6 a bottle for the 7, most places seem to be selling it at £35

I tried the whole Flor de Caña range at a tasting last month. As above the pick for me is the 18, but the 7 runs it close and is better value.

Apologies for the terrible photo but here's mine, won in an office raffle! It's around £50 retail apparently. Never really been a rum man, so can someone tell me how I should be drinking this please? Might tuck in this weekend!
