I'm sure there will be someone along shortly with a lot more knowledge than me but have a try of cockspurs gold rum, can get it in the supermarket and it's lovely and smooth for regular drinking.

Lambs and mount gay (the regular supermarket one, not the 17 wotnot) are also go to favourites of mine.

Having a look through this thread is making me want to explore a little bit more too.

I do like a bit of spice gold myself though redcard

It was made in 1703? Surely not?
No - I'd probably have to find a shipwreck to get something that old!
All their stuff is blended. This one is a blend of I think 10-30 year aged stuff. Best rum I've tried so far.

after a recent spell of parties my rum stash is severely depleted. only a bottle of pyrat and some matusalem 15 left. i would;t recommend the latter btw OP, it isn't very good.
I quite liked it when I tried it on holiday. The girlfriend's parents' are bringing a bottle back from The Bahamas for me. At £10 a bottle it's no great loss if it's not as good as I remember.

If you can get hold of a bottle of Appleton's 8 , give it a go. Not overly expensive, but once my first bottle was empty , I
bought another.

P/S Don't get it confused with Appleton XV , which you can get in some of the supers, the XV is nothing like as good as the 8.

One source of Appleton 8 http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-8347.aspx

Well this afternoon I took a trip down to 'Lahdahn Tahn' to meet up with an old housemate. He's a big whisky fan so we headed over to The Whisky Exchange to peruse their products. What a place! We were like kids in a sweet shop! I ended up walking away with a bottle of R.L Seale's 10 Year Old. Looking forward to opening it next week!
RL Seal is a deeply impressive drink, I fking love it. Lattitude in Leeds usually carry it.

Had a great day at Appletons in Jamaica last year, loved it there

Mount Gay still gets my vote as the nicest Affordable rum. I do however remain committed to try all the others that i have the pleasure to come across

i've abeen to the appletons distillery too, wonderful experience in a particularly beautiful spot in jamaica.

bought a couple of bottles of myers's today to help lubricate the party season. also plumped for a bottle of cane 10 as it looked interesting. a quick google reveals it's a hennessey owned brand and their crack at a premium white/light gold rum. anyone tried it?

I've got that big bottle on the right. I'm slowly getting into my rum. I'm a fan of Appletons and Morgans and a tonne Mount Gay. One of the perks of living in Reading. there is always someone going to Barbados biggrin

Fantastic stuff

To the thread above this is about £25 from waitrose, and so far my choice in non spiced rum
