hows the rumbullion btw? the whole ampleforths range looks intriguing.
It's fantastic! Like winter in a glass - orange, vanilla and an after taste that has hints of cloves. A brilliant cold evening drink.

57% and £6.30 a litre in Gibraltar - I work there lots and have lots of rum.

That stuff is lovely - and I can't stand spirits normally. The sugar smell cloud9

opened my 1986 flagon on lambs t'other week. absolutely lovely, very reminiscient of pussers 15 but darker and fuller. flatmate, who is not normally a fan of neat spirit, also professed a liking for it. sadly doubt i'll find another as cheap [this was 35quid, original seal intact] but hey ho.

in curacao at the moment, disappointing lack of local producers but the local supermarket has an enviable stock of rums from the caribbean, venezuela and mexico so i know where my duty free allowance is going!

Cacique is my rum of choice down there. Pronounced Cas-eek-cay, it's a good everyday rum.

They do a range of aged rums too, can be a bit pricey.

Have a good time down there, mate.

Ah my kind of thread at last!!

The collection as it stands:
Captain Morgan's
Morgan's spiced
Lambs
Mount gay
Havana club
Appletons reserve
Sailor Jerry
Ron de Jeremy ( as pictured above!)
Black seal 80
Black seal 160
Kraken
Some Thai rum (can't remember it's name and its packed away)
Old Nassau (current favourite)

I think I have a slight rum problem!....

bought a bottle of the santa theresa 1796 on my way home, $40 so a good price

http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-4553.aspx

1/3 of a bottle gone already and all of it has been on the rocks. absolutely lovely, extremely smooth with vanilla, chocolate and burnt sugar coming through. i am not normally one for giving drinks sacred status in that you shouldn't add a mixer, but this is one of very few rums i have tried that genuinely doesn't need one.

The family that owns Santa Teresa have a private Marina dock at their holiday home. I spent almost a year based there and got very friendly with them. I've tried some of their own family rums from 50/60 years ago.

Utterly gobsmacking. Aged rums are so complex in flavours, smoothness, headnotes and aroma. Really worth spending a few bob extra for them and just sipping.

you do know you can get that from quite a few different places on the net and not just from the states.

I ordered one from thewhiskyexchange.com a few months ago, im guessing they have quite a few more as there shop is quite massive and they have a warehouse just for online orders.

infact, www.thewhiskyexchange.com is the only play i buy spirits from off the web, as the range is so good i always end up getting a few different things to make is worth my while in regards of paying postage wink

yes A subtle tipple for the discerning gentleman.
Cakemaker's rum more like!

can't beat the way it evaporates before you get a chance to drink it though... like spiced petrol!
