That shouldn't prevent you from using one pot to cook in.The theme says "ONE POT MEALS" not "SLOW COOKER MEALS".
I have casserole dishes that are hob-safe. Meat can be browned off in the pot on the hob, then you throw in the rest of the ingrediants and bung it in the oven.
Is the competition for slow-cooker meals or one-pot meals?
You see?
Is a slow cooker the pot of choice for a one pot competition?

I have some questions...
Can we brown the meat first?
I've spoken with our legal team. Their interpretation of case law pertinent to this enquiry suggests that browning of meat would be seen as a preparatory step rather than cooking and as such the death penalty would not apply. Can we brown the meat first?
However, I have now thrown my slow cooker in fury out of the back door so will be either entering via an entirely different cooking method, or, not at all.
So there.
PS. Legally speaking, could a BBQ be classed as 'one pot cooking' ?
The rules state "the main part of the dish must have been cooked within it's own sauce and fellow ingredients in one pot."
Shirley browning the meat of in a pan, then adding it's sauce and fellow ingredients. Is no different to browning the meat in a pan then adding the meat and other ingredients in to the slow cooker pot to cook.
Or am I barking up the wrong tree.
Either way, it makes no difference to my recipe if I do it all on the hob or in the slow cooker. Just the latter would be easier as I will be able to leave the house instead of standing over the hob all day while it cooks.

I'm making a trifle.
My entry: pot roasted pheasant in port and red wine sauce.
Picked up one of the last pheasants as the season ended.
Brown off in butter, throw in shallots, garlic, smoked bacon, chestnut mushrooms, peas, carrots, red wine, port, garlic, bay leaf, thyme, put the lid on and forget about it.
Split the bird in half, serve with a jacket spud with leek. Noms.
